So as I sat down on a chair they started explaining things to me. Apparently this was the place I'd been looking for.

They lost me as soon as I knew their names, Bran and John

So as Bran gave me a whole speach about how uncarefull I was , I saw John snicker at me from the corner of my eye.

' So if you think you can just show the whole world where we are and not care about others at all then you can just leave!'

' Sorry george' I said, my face hung a little low in shame.

' My name is Bran!' He said, his glasses not softning the irritation I could see in his eyes.

The tone of his now agritated voice jerked me back to reality

I lifted my arms from the armrests and stood up.

' cya '

I walked off

' Where are you going?'

I had just walked out of the room without looking back at Bran and John, and passed the corner.

A stern looking middle aged man stood there and i would have surely bumped into him if he had not stepped aside quickly, he was agile for his age.

' Where are you going? ' He repeated

Well now he did not just look stern, he looked angry.

' I am going home' I said, trying to hold my head high.

There was a long akward silence, one in which I did not dare break my eye contact with him.

' No you are not, Bran, sign her up for basic, training'

I wish I could do that, the authorasation with which he spoke, it was amazing.

' So I can fit you in with the smurfs on wednsesdays and thursdays from three till five, or on mondays and saturdays from 4 till six'

' Wait smurfs? what do you mean?' I walked towards the computer where Bran was filling in application sheets.

' 4-6 year olds !? ' I squicked out.

' you have to start at the - Bran started before he was interupted.

- bottom to get to the top' John filled in.

The man gave Bran some more instructions, which he followed without argueing or delay. One of which was to give me a burner phone.
I asked him why, I mean, I had a phone.

' You really don't know where you are? What you're asking for?' He asked me.
I would remember that sentence for the rest of my life, because it would mark the moment my life turned around.

I walked out of the room feeling so much better.

But obviously that stopped

'Yo ' Jake said, as he came running down the hallway, nearly crashing into me, really does everyone crash into eachother here?,' whats your number? now we still can't communicate.'

' uh yea, right, stupid me, why dont you write yours down and i'll text you and you'll see mine?'

' alright'

He handed me his.

'Uhm' I started.

John looked up, waiting for me to finish the sentence I started but I had no idea yet what I wanted to say. Well I knew what I wanted to say, just not how to formulate it.

' Do you give private lessons?' I asked, a lot more blunt than I wanted.

'Ofcourse, I'll text you when we have an opening.' He said.

I was happy he didn't make a big deal out of it, he seemed like someone who would. His dark black hair and relaxed posture reminded me of some of the children at my school, whom would have handled the situation alot differently than he had. They wouldnt just answer my request, they'd do anything they could to work against it.

' could you keep our private lessons quiet?' I said, still not confident in wanting the world to know what I'd be up to.

' oh yea, no problem' He said.

I then realized by the carelessness with which he answered that he didn't care about what I'd said. For all I knew he could still be like the the children at my school, he could still taunt me and make my life a hell like they had.

He walked of, no goodbye

I left the building, I felt the cold air blow the hair out of my face, I looked around, not wanting to forget where this ' fighting' school was, but something about how secrative they where, the way they all acted, the way they kept nearly bumping into each other really made me think that there was more to this school. Which was weird, if it was so secretive then why was it one of the first hits on the internet?

' alright' I mumbled to myself ' tree there, stop sign here, trash can there' I could remember this.

With that I headed home

' hello' I said as I entered my home, not expecting anyone to awnser but I guess it was just one of those habits.

To no one's suprise no one awnserd.

Which was great because i wanted to try the new burner phone I got on the way back. It was nearly dinner time as I was done reading the instructions and finally figuring out what the hell I was supposed to do with it.

I added Jake's number and texted him:

' Hey, when do you wanna start?'

send.

I walked down stairs and as I  prepared to make some supper, which usually was my parents leaving 5 dollars on the table with a note : finish your veggies. But this time i saved the 5 dollars and but it in my pocket.

I walked over to the fridge and got took out the tupperware container my mother had labled ' veggies'.

As I chewed slowly, I had the time to think about my day. A moment of peace between being knocked out and finding out all these new things. Each chew reminding me what I was doing everything for, I thought about what else I needed, wanted.

But maybe even more than that, a place to think. I know that my house, home, whatever, was good enough, but to keep looking over my shoulder incase my parents might show up.

I didnt want to have to worry about them finding my things

And then it hit me.

This neighbourhood I lived in was full of house squadders.

And guess what?

The house next to ours has been for sale for years.
