It had been three days, three agonizing days since the kiss, and she still hadn't heard from him. Sure, she'd had her meaningless kiss or two, but this was different. It had had to be. It'd been a long time since she felt this way, and the last time didn't end so well. It took long enough to get over Andrew cheating on her with her own damn sister, but to truly put herself back out there took over a year. She couldn't get hurt again. She just couldn't.
"Will you cut it out already? He'll call!"
Emma had been Lily's best friend for years now. She had that kind of personality that you either loved or hated. Blunt, straight to the point, whether you asked for it or not. Lily had always admired it that. She herself was just your average teenager; moody, crazy, hormonal. She liked to go out and party, go to the mall, all of those stupid stereotypical teenaged activities.
"Emma, it's been three days! He obviously isn't going to call."
"God, just chill, he's one guy. He's not that good looking anyway."
"It's not about his looks."
Xzavyer was decent looking, not gorgeous by any means, but decent. He had these deep brown eyes that melted Lily like a popsicle every time she looked into them. He made her feel so safe. He had that cute soft spoken side, that seemed to go so perfectly with his side that had just a touch of dark humor. She had to admit, the whole sexy dark humor thing intrigued her. He was her polar opposite and the odds were stacked against them, but that both attracted and excited her.
"Oh my gosh! It's him! He says...hey...Hey? That's it?"
"Oooh, ouch!"
"Shut up. What the hell is this supposed to mean? I've texted him at least five times since the kiss. Was it that bad??"
"You're such a drama queen, Lily, calm down, it's one guy. Plenty of fish in the sea."
As cliche as it sounded, she didn't want "another fish", she wanted Xzavyer, badly. And if there was one thing that Lily didn't take too well, It was rejection. Unfortunately, rejection was all he had given her. After three hours of going back and forth all she had left was her resentment, soggy tissues full of tears and mascara, and a lame excuse from a boy who had let her down.
"I don;t know what I was thinking.", he'd said. "I don't want this, a relationship, or you."
This last part was what stung the most. Sure, she went to school and acted all bubbly, happy, confident; but inside she was broken. She had always been the girl who was taken lightly. Just a piece of ass, slap her on the butt and call her sexy and it'd all be okay. She didn't want to be that girl anymore and she thought that Xzavyer got that. She thought he liked her, wanted her, not just some fling that meant nothing. But that was all she was to him, all she'd ever be, and it left her feeling disappointed and worthless. She couldn't help but spend the night in tears.
