The scent of blood was fresh. Fragrant on the trees and brush. My group moved swiftly, barely hearing the the crunch of sticks and leaves underneath our soft steps. We traveled a few miles; jumping over falling branches and dodging dead tree trunks. Our bodies moving so fast were just blurs. We made it to a clearing. I stayed back watching as the newborn vampires let out hisses and roars sprinting into the arena that was set up for this. Slowing my pace, I stepped into the clearing pushing one of the branches of a bush out of the way. What I saw was horrifying. I could already tell we were losing. Body's upon body's. I could hear the booming sounds of body's crashing together until it turned into the sound of shattering glass. Giant wolves leaped over huge boulders in the middle of the field and started ripping heads off. It's a complete massacre. I took a step back getting ready to run when I was pushed and trampled into the clearing by some of my comrades. I tumble and rolled landing in a cat like crouch. I stood quickly. My eyes widened and fear could be smelt within my scent. I ran ducking from the flying limbs that flew through the air. I didn't want this. I didn't want this life. I didn't want to fight. I don't want to kill anyone. I never did. I managed to get passed the gruesome scene without being noticed since everyone was distracted. I sat down and wrapped my arms around my legs knowing that if I left, Riley would track me down and kill me. I'm already dead, but I do not wish to die again. The noises of the screams became to much to bare. I pulled out my phone putting my earphones in, turning my music all the way up to drown out the sounds. I pressed my hands to my ears to make it louder beginning to hum the tune, afraid to open my mouth.

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go."
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone,"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window, darling.
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold onto this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
La, la (la, la)
La, la (la, la)
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
La, la (la, la)

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, oh, oh

I could hear the approach of steps so I closed my eyes and tucked my face into my knees. I felt the slight breeze of someone moving next to me.

"Child you have no need to be afraid. We will offer you asylum in exchange for your surrender."

The soft bell like voice made me slowly look up into two pairs of golden eyed strangers. Their faces morphed into shock until they controlled their expressions. The women gently put her hand on my knee and smiled,

"Come, it'll be alright we won't hurt you."

I thought her words odd but kind. I silently thanked them and nodded my head. We all stood and I hesitantly followed them through the clearing feeling the warmth of a huge fire. Several pairs of eyes landed on me and they all showed the same shocked expression before they masked it. The wolves growled at me and I cowered and lowered my head. I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders,
