You've Got The Glow chapter 17

Chapter 17:

Kayla's POV

I lay on his bed with my head in his lap. His fingers stroked through my hair as we sat there and just talked. We got caught up from the last few months we missed until there was nothing else to say.

That's when I brought up the subject of Noah. "Noah broke up with me."

I could feel him tense up and he stopped stroking my hair. "I'm going to beat the shit out of him." He said looking fuming mad.

"I'm not done. He broke up with me because he cheated on me. Now you can continue your threats."

Jake yelled profanities about Noah for a good twenty minutes before I stopped him again.

Looking up at him I placed a kiss on his cheek and said, "I'm glad to have you back."

His smile came back showing his dimples. "I'm glad to have you back too."

What I don't get is why he took me back so willingly. Why is he still protecting me from Noah and caring about me? Especially when I was the one that thought he wasn't good enough for me. What an asshole I am.

I should be happy though. Happy that I have my best friend back, and happy that there's a chance for something more.

It took me a few hours to figure out asking myself these questions won't help. I called Jessica to have her over for her words of wisdom. I asked her all the questions I asked myself.

Her response was, "Damn that boy loves you."

"Loves me?" I asked, "I wouldn't say he loves me."

"You don't deserve him, Kayla. If I was Jake I would leave you in a heart beat- no offense- but there's obviously something pulling him back to you. He can't get rid of you no matter how badly he wanted to or tried." Jessica said. And like I said before: words of wisdom.

"So you think he definitely has feelings for me?"

She nods, "Feelings, yes. Love? I'm not quite sure about that yet, but it seems just like it to me."

"I can take feelings, but I'll hold off on the love part." I replied.

"Now the real question is," Jessica gave that look. Theres no way to describe it really, but it's like she knows something but makes you admit it anyways. "Do you have feelings for him?"

"You know what? I think I do. And I'm perfectly okay with that. I, Kayla Parker, have feelings for Jake Miller." I said with a smile.

But my smile dropped when I realized my balcony door was wide open and so was Jake's. And he was sitting right there and probably heard every word that came out of my mouth.

That's when Jessica gave me a sly smile and left my house to leave me with Jake. I bet you any money that was on purpose.

Jake came knocking on my bedroom door a few minutes later. I let him in, but didn't even face him. The embarrassment was too much. He heard EVERY word. About love and feelings and what I thought about him. I wish I was invisible.

"Kayla," He said, "Please look at me."

I turned around and waved, then faced the opposite direction again. I heard Jake sigh and his footsteps came closer to me. Matching his steps I walked forward until the freaking wall got in my way.

Jake placed his hands on my waist and turned me around to face him.

"Listen I--"

He cut me off, "Before you say something stupid, I have something to say."

The look he gave me sent shivers down my spine. His touch brought sparks and butterflies everywhere. It was a nice feeling though. Well, it would've been if my heart wasn't having a seizure.

"Yes, I did hear parts of your conversation, but not on purpose. I just so happen to have heard something with my name in it?" His intense look turned into a smirk.

He heard me loud and clear and he knew it, but I guess he wanted me to admit it to him. "You heard me before."

"I don't recall." He said playing dumb.

He heard it so what's the point of hiding it? I need to have confidence, so that's what I did. "Okay, yes I have feelings for you Jake."

"Really?" His smirk was replaced with a smile, "Because I just so happen to know someone who has feelings for you."

"Me too, it's you." I remarked, which actually kinda ruined the moment, but nobody's perfect.

A small laugh escape his mouth and he said, "Okay I had that coming."

"Yeah you--"

He cut me off, but this time it was with his lips colliding with mine. His hands still on my hips and he had me pinned against the wall. Every thought I had and everything around me vanished, it was just me and Jake.

Until Kyle's voice caused us to jump apart. He went up to Jake and punched him right in the jaw.

"What the hell Kyle!" I screamed.

He shrugged and said, "He deserved it."
