It was Monday.
A dull, grey, sunless Monday in London and Charlotte Barlow was on her way to school-well getting ready for school. Her best friend Ella-Ray stood waiting in the doorway.
"Happy birthday!" Ella shouted as she opened the door to Charlottes house "hurry we've got 20 minutes to get to school!"
"I know I know and it's no big deal I mean I'm only 13..." Charlotte rolled her eyes and took one last look in the mirror. Her green eyes stared back at her freckly, pale face and her ginger hair which was bouncy with curls, she looked back at the doorway to see Ella tapping her foot impatiently. Her silky black hair falling slightly over her brown, Asian eyes her skin perfect without a freckle a lump or a spot god dammit. Charlotte sighed and swung her backpack on, grabbing her money for dinner.
"See you later mum!" She called making her way out of the house and out into the cold morning air. The two girls began walking down the street just as the heavens opened, Ella took out her black umbrella from her leather bag and put it up for both of them to share. "Dull day" Charlotte said
"On your birthday too" Ella smirked knowing how much she hated birthdays
"It's stupid I don't get it I'm just one year closer to dying" she sighed
"Hey you could die right now Charl be greatful"
That was Ella for you, always looking on the bright-slightly depressing side of things. "Anyway if you hadn't been 'ill' last Friday you'd know there's a new boy in our class and the whole schools going mental"
"Oh?" Charlotte curled a dark eyebrow "I'm listening"
"He's called Dominic?-Charlie?-uh something like that but his hairs all black and he's all pale and athletic god he's really fit you know everyone fancies him" Ella giggled
"Oh my god you do!"
"Oh who wouldn't Charl! He's gorgeous!"
Charlotte scoffed "you don't even know him! I bet you've never spoken to him, he could have all his teeth missing"
"Actually he said sorry when he bumped into me during science and I'll have you know his teeth are per-FECT-TION!" Ella swung her hair jokingly making the two teens giggle
"I'll have you know we have ten minutes to get to school" Charlotte frowned looking at her phone.
"I'll have you know I can't bare another detention with Miss Harrison so let's get our arses moving"
"Right you are."
