The Secret

Chapter 4

    I wake up in what looks like leaves and branches. I suddenly realize that Alistair isn't with me. " Alistair," I cry out frantically.
"What is it. Is somebody in here, where are they," he growls. I smile and hug him. It hurt to have him far away. He looks at me with a startled expression, "Is everything alright. You screamed my name. I thought something was wrong." I look at him and say, " There was. You weren't in here with me." He looks at me with amused eyes." Don't look at me like that. I was scared that something happened to you," I say upset that he wasn't." As you can see I'm just fine. You don't need to panic," he says. I roll my eyes. I realize that we are in some sort of tree." Where are we," I say. He looks at me and looks like he forgot to tell me,
" Yeah about that. We are in the forest kingdom. You fainted and I had to fly you here, well because we are in the tree tops. This is the forest kingdom."
       " I'm in the what," I say. I look around panicked as I think I'm in the home I was supposed to live in. How can this be, I think. It was in big oak trees with floor boards so you wouldn't fall off. There were strung leaves for curtains and beds made of wood and leaves for the cushion to make it comfortable. It was beautiful and bright at the same time. I could hear a buzzing sound below so I took the courage to look down at the window. It buzzed with life of people with silk clothes. They look like normal people except for what kind of animals they had. There were giant wolves, birds, bears, and other types of animals. I look and see no one else has a dragon. I feel awkward as I feel like I was afraid to wonder out with a dragon because clearly I would stand out and not quite fit in. I look at Alistair and he gestures to the doorway. I sigh and walk out. Afraid to go out I stop. "How can I do this? I'll fell alone," I think to Alistair. He looks at me," You'll be fine. No one can get to you as long as I'm near." I smile as I start to feel better. I nod and start to walk out.
       Everyone stops to look at me. Then they look to my dragon and gasp. They start to bow to me as they realize who I was. Frightened I look at Alistair and he nods as he lays down for me to get on top of his back. I bury my face into his neck but still feel everyone staring. I hear someone call to my dragon for him to follow and see it was Arrow. I looked at him and he could tell I was uncomfortable.
He takes Alistair and I into what looks like a dome. We go inside to see the first thing were 2 thrones made of polished oak and carved with beautiful carvings of dragons and flowers. Wrapped around the thrones were vines of flowers of purples, blues, and pinks. It was beautiful. Arrow and Alistair look at me amused," What can't I admire anything without you two gawking at me?" They both chuckle. I roll my eyes and keep admiring. I don't care what they think it's beautiful in here. I was so busy looking around that I didn't notice that we stopped. We were in a different room with a long wooden table and chairs with a group of people around it. They were talking, but didn't notice that we were in here. Arrow cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. They all stare at him. An older man with a woven crown of wood and jewels looks at him." What can I help you with Arrow," as he looks at me and Alistair with a puzzled expression." I know it's been a lot of years as you have searched for your missing daughter. I may have stumbled into her yesterday evening," as he gestures to me. I look at everyone and they all look at me shocked." What proof do you have to tell me this. And you know what will happen if you are tricking me Arrow," says the older man. Arrow looks at him with a worried expression," Your Majesty she was able to read my dragons mind. You know it's almost impossible to do for only of she had magic or if she was royal. I could sense no magic and look at what animal she has." The man which I'm guessing is the King, looks at me then Alistair. Then he turns to a women which is across the table, which must be the Queen because she has the same crown. The Queen looks at me then to Alistair and then back to me. She starts to cry for an answer. The King looks at Arrow and nods.
      The King and Queen then slowly get out of their chairs and walk over to me. I look at Alistair as he lowers for me to get down, I look at him with an expression as to tell him to stay close and he nods as he follows me to meet them. I look at them and I see that I look similar to them. Scared on what to do I just stare at them as they examine me. The King was first to say anything," I thought I lost you. You were only just born when you went missing." He starts to get tears in his eyes, surprised I start to do the same thing and they hug me. Wrapped in their arms I felt loved. I break away and look at them." I didn't know about anything until yesterday. When Arrow found me. Alistair and I had to leave the home I was in so that he would be safe," I say through tears. I look at Alistair and he bends his head down so I could touch my head against his. I will never love anyone else as much as I love you, I say. He nods in agreement. I smile. I look at my parents and say," He has to stay with me at all times and he gets treated with respect, not with judgement." They nod and I smile." Thank you and by the way his name is Alistair. Do you have dragons?," I ask. They sigh and shake their heads." Only you and Arrow are the only ones with dragons. Dragons are very rare and only hatch for the perfect rider for them. You have been the only royal to have a dragon in many generations," says my mother. I look at her confused. I look at Alistair and he looks at me with the same expression." That doesn't make sense. How am I the only royal with a dragon?," I ask. They just shrug. Well you're no help, I think." Why are we hidden," I ask. They look at me but say nothing. I look at them with an angry expression as in to say          'I'm waiting'. " We are hidden because we possess powerful magic. If anyone finds it or takes it, our lives will be destroyed and our world would be over," they say dramatically. I nod as in to say I understand. I look at Alistair," Let's go fly around the kingdom. I want to see what it looks like." He nods.
