A sharp pain hits my side as I try to sit up. I drowsily open my eyes, and they feel as heavy as bricks. I gaze at my arms, bruises and scratches spotted across my tan skin. Grabbing my side, I slide my slender legs over and around the hospital bed, ripping my IV cord out.

"Bristol? Oh god, Bristol, what are you doing?" A familiar voice rings out, echoing in my ears. They look blurry, but I can tell it's a boy. "Can you hear me?"

I slowly nod, and stumble a little before falling into his arms, the world around me blacking out once again. I fight to stay awake, but heavy drugs have been injected into me, and my eyes grow heavier,  and I try to speak. "Just let me stay awake."

He pecks the top of my forehead. "I'm afraid we can't let that happen just yet Bri. Please don't fight it. I promise, it's going to be all right, just let go for now, okay?"

I feel myself slipping away, my grip on him loosening little by little. He kisses my forehead once again, and I black out.

                                                                          *Three Weeks Later*

"She wasn't ready Nick. She's definitely not going to be ready anytime soon. Just let her get ready on her own time, and she'll come through."

Fury shakes his head. "She was ready. Let her train with them- or at least have her spectate or something. I know she can help."

Nick Fury turns out of the conference room, and I lean my back against the wall, trying to be casual. He nods at me, and I awkwardly nod back.

"Agent Wells, since you are in recovery, the board has decided that you will be spectating and planning everything for the Avengers," He does one of his classic half-smiles, and I try to limp faster to catch up.

I grab his arm. "Do you mean I'm doing desk work?"

"Not necessarily," He says, shaking his head.

Groaning, I roll my eyes and walk to my room. What the actual fuck.

"Wells. What are you doing?" Agent Hill yells at me, and I spot her in the corner of my eye.

"Recovering," I respond, and continue walking.

She catches me with the corner of my elbow. "Fury wanted me to tell you that you're needed at the confrence at 1700 hours. Okay?"

I nod my head, and she leaves me. Rolling my eyes, I swipe my acess card to unlock my rooms, and change into my uniform.

As I slip on the suit, I wince a little at the pain, my broken rib still partially healing. Slipping on my boots as best as I can without going into extreme pain, I check the time. Still three. Two more hours before confrence.
