Chapter one

Window dressing: the cover story and accessories they use to convince the authorities and casual observers that they are everyday people and not spies

It was a normal wedding reception. Except for the fact that I was wearing a dress and holding my best friend's hand at a stranger's wedding. Why was I there, you may ask? Well here's what happened;

"Fletcher, Zimmerman! Come over here, I need to talk to you!" Our boss walked into the office, yelling and receiving a few stares from some of the other workers. Our boss constantly called us by our last names. I looked at Blake, 'Fletcher', who wore an unreadable expression and shrugged.

"Let's go" I mumbled towards Blake and got out of my chair, walking towards Mr Norton, who was smirking. I heard footsteps behind me and turned around to see Blake smiling at me. We walked up to our boss, who was still smirking.

"Guys, we've got a new mission for you" Mr Norton started. I was surprised, I rarely got put on missions with other people. Blake also looked surprised. He always got put on with Juliet, another spy, who happened to be his girlfriend.

"There's a man, Logan Samuels, we think he's onto one of our other missions, but we need to make sure before we take serious action. That's where you guys come in" he explained, pointing at Blake and I. Blake nodded, looking genuinely interested.

"Samuels is getting married this weekend. We've made connections and you guys are going to go to the wedding as a couple to find out some background information" Mr Norton said. A couple?

"Don't you think a gay couple will stand out a bit?" I asked, confused.

"Trust me on this" Mr Norton smirked.

"Can't I just do it with Juliet?" Blake groaned, looking over at his girlfriend who was on the phone, looking gorgeous as always.

"Yeah, can't he just do it with Juliet?" I agreed, sighing.

Mr Norton shook his head. "You guys are doing it and if you have a problem you can kiss your promotions goodbye. And I know how long you guys have been working towards them."

"Whatever" Blake sighed, nodding his head. We turned to leave when we heard Sir speak.

"Oh and guys" I turned my head around to face Mr Norton. "Mason's going to have to be disguised as a girl" he continued, simply walking away. I didn't want to dress up like a girl.

"Hey Mason, I guess you could say that you're the girl in the relationship" Blake teased, cracking up at his own joke.

"Hilarious" I remarked, sarcastically.

So that's how we ended up here. At some random guy's wedding. Everything was itching, from the wig and the nails to the makeup and the horrible fake breasts I was wearing. I felt ridiculous, but no one had questioned my gender...yet.

"Do we have to do this?" I questioned, all anger built up from hours of getting ready.

"C'mon don't be like that, you look gorgeous" Blake said, sending me an annoyed look.

He put his head next to mine and moved to whisper in my ear. "Your voice is too low, Mason. And we are supposed to be acting like a couple."

"I love you too, sweetie" I giggled, hoping I sounded like a girl. Being a spy involved a lot of acting, so Blake and I were pretty good. He didn't move.

"Better" he complimented, moving his head away and kissing my cheek. It felt really weird. He was my best friend, we shouldn't have been doing this crap. As I was pretending to laugh, a younger couple walked towards our table taking seats across from us. The man smiled at us.
