╰☆☆Death Wish Confirmed☆☆╮

With all eyes on me, I stepped towards Professor Moonshadow. Don't ask me what was running through my mind because the hell do I know. However, this dome sounded rather fascinating, and as I said previously, I enjoy a good challenge.

"So, what exactly we will be doing?" I asked, still grinning at Professor Moonshadow. "And do I get to murder anyone?"

That most likely was the wrong word to use. Steve stiffened beside me upon hearing the word murder. I knew why he did, because of his parents being killed.

"Since Miss Bloodvial and Mr Charmstar have so much to say, we'll start with them. Step forward, you two." She told us. Steve and I exchanged looks but did as she asked. "These two will represent the black-thorns, and you'll be versing the golden daggers."

"Shit," Buck mumbled behind us. "Looks like we lose again."

"Thanks for the vote of confidence," It annoys me when people are so dramatic. Being a vampire, witch hybrid, you would assume they'd have more faith in me. Vampires are challenging to kill without being part witch.

I was half expecting Steve to say something, but he remained quiet. However, he stared at Buck, and even though he was silent, he said a million things just by his eyes alone.

Silence speaks louder than words.

"Miss Potts and Miss Rivers, please step forward."

"Double shit," in the corner of my eye, I saw Buck rub his temples. "Well, it was nice knowing you two. It's a shame I didn't get more acquainted with you, Elysia, on a personal level," he sent me a smug expression and winked.

Asshole. Of course, I didn't say that out loud.

Two women walked to Professor Moonshadow. Both were tall, with red locks of hair tied in a high ponytail. One had freckles and pale skin, whereas the other had a slightly tanned tone to her complexion. They both were well built for your average girl; I mean, no offence by that, but they clearly work out.

"Miss Bloodvial, Mr Charmstar, step forward." Professor Moonshadow motioned to the women beside her.

Steve and I exchanged looks. As we stepped beside Professor Moonshadow, small lights embedded into the ceiling and walls suddenly switched on, engulfing the area. I observed the oval-shaped room, with a floor made from dark-coloured concrete and a roof that arched downwards to meet the metal-rounded walls.

"Please step into the middle of the room." The good Professor instructed all four of us. Once more, we did as required, and once more, Steve stood close to me. "Now, remember, although what you are about to see is hologram generated, you will feel everything. The aim is to eliminate shadow-dwellers and each other. You'll be scored on performance along with kills. Anything goes."

"Wait, what?" Confusion laced Steve's tone. "We have to try to kill each other?"

"Geez, are all wizards deaf or what?" One of the girls laughed. "If the shadow-dwellers don't kill you, we will."

I watched our Professor and the rest of the group walk over to an open door I swore wasn't there a moment ago. When the last person walked through the doorway, the door closed. Lights consumed the dome, causing me to shield my eyes.

A soft beep made me glance at my wrist; the magic dampener suddenly flickered from red to amber, then green. I sighed in relief, feeling my vampire senses flooding back like the sun had just gone supernova.

Within a second of the lights fading, I smelt the air; it was damp and somewhat difficult to breathe and filled with the scent of death. My eyes landed on the floor beneath my feet. Concrete gave way to grass, but it was black as if it had been burnt. Glancing up, I noticed tall charred trees surrounded me; smoke lingered between them, smothering the area, making it challenging to see metres in front of me.

"Steve?" I called out, attempting to listen to his heartbeat. However, it was strangely quiet; there was no sound whatsoever. Although a light breeze blew around me, again, it was silent. "Steve?"

Why the heck am I calling him? We're supposed to attempt to kill each other, right? Does that include him?

Inhaling, I suddenly caught the smell of someone, no, not someone, something. This smelt different from a magical being or creature. I closed my eyes and tried to pinpoint the location, but there was an earsplitting scream. My feet moved before my mind, and I ran through the trees towards the noise.

You might ask me why anyone would run towards someone screaming. Well, I want to find out what's happening. Clearly, it wasn't Steve unless he squealed like a girl.

"Help me!" Yep, definitely a girl.

A tree branch hit my left cheek, causing a small cut. I wiped my skin with the back of my hand to find a small amount of blood. Professor Moonshadow was correct; we can get hurt and feel pain. Ignoring the minor stinging sensation from the cut, I moved at inhuman speeds through the trees and towards the screams when suddenly I had this feeling that I was being stalked.

Hairs on my neck stood up, making me instantly stop, and my boots dug into the mud beneath them. I turned, ready to attack whoever was approaching from my right. I extended my fangs and took up a defensive stance.

Excitement pulsed through my veins.

For a second, I thought I caught a glimpse of a figure in the smoke rushing towards me at high speeds. Only a vampire could move with such force; clearly, because I was the only one here, it couldn't be a vampire.

"Show yourself!" I grinned, overflowing with happiness. I haven't had this much fun since I discovered I was half-vampire.

My ears picked up an odd sound, this time from above. It almost sounded as if something was diving towards me. No, it was not diving like a hawk; it was falling.

And then, well, something unexpected happened.

I jumped to the left as the body of someone slammed into the ground right where I had been standing. Rivers of blood began to ooze from the corpse.

My eyes widened in horror.

"What the fuck?"
