Chapter 1:
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, and came to the conclusion, that my appearance is not something I'm proud of. My eyes traced down my body, and I sighed deeply to myself. Most girls envied my body. I faced the same question almost everyday; are you anorexic? I'd shake my head, and reply 'I'm just naturally slim.' My bones were like sharp knives, it was disgusting.
But non the less girls still wanted my ability to eat anything and not gain an ounce. I guess the only reason they did though is because my best friend Olivia Park, the most popular girl in the school, said she envied my body. Me!? The school loser, reject, nerd ect.
She envied my body and so every other girl did. Lucky for me, Olivia was actually a really nice girl, I mean yes she did make me do her homework sometimes and she didn't invite me out to much.. But we were best friends!
She even got us friendship bracelets, I never took mine off. Once she had said to me when I was sad, that the only reason she didn't take me everywhere and why she made me do her homework was because that's what everyone expected her to do. So she had to, but she didn't want to.
I told her I didn't mind, and that as long as she was happy I was happy.
I brushed my super thick, long brunette hair into a ponytail and headed down stairs, my school uniform dangling from me because it was to big for me.
I decided to skip breakfast this morning as I was already running late, and Olivia had just texted me she was here. Lately Olivia had begun picking me up and driving me to school in her amazing new red, sports car.
It sure got us a few odd looks, but everyone soon got use to the fact that an ugly nerd girl like me, could become friends with the most prettiest girl in school. Well.. most of them.
As I hopped into her car, I thought how lucky I am to call Olivia my best friend.
Her gorgeous blue eyes looked into my boring green eyes as she said hi, and started up an amusing conversation about her and her brother getting ready this morning.
"So you completed my english essays right?" Olivia asked, as we pulled up at school
"Yeah, all done" I said, handing them over before getting out of the car
"Thanks babe! Your the best friend! We should go shopping this weekend what you think?"
“Sounds great! I definitely need a look" I replied,
"I agree, but don't worry I'll fix that!" Olivia grinned,
"Okay, well I guess I'll see you.. at the end of school?"
Olivia shook her head in thought, "I was thinking, why don't you sit with me at lunch? Please" She begged,
"Uhh, I dunno I know your friends don't really like me.."
"That's only because you don't hang around them! Please just this once? I'll grab you from your class and everything"
I shook my head in amusement "Fine, Fine! If your that serious about it"
She squealed and jumped up and down as the bell went off.
"Okay! See you at lunch" She hugged me and ran off to her class, as I walked off to mine.
~*~ lunch time ~*~
I walked out of my science class to see Olivia waiting patiently outside my classroom. I smiled at her, and together we headed off to the lunch room together.
To say I was shitting myself wouldn't be exactly true! But... I was indeed nervous. Olivia, sent two younger boys through the lunch line, to grab our food while we walked off to Olivia's friends.
As we got closer, I could feel the glances and stares try to stop me but Olivia's strong hold on me dragged me all the way to the middle of the table. Where she plonked me right down next to her.
At first it was really quiet and awkward, and everyone just stared at me. Until Olivia spoke up,
"What are you staring at!" She snapped, a pissed off look on her face
Everyone seemed to snap back into reality and went back to their conversations, having slight trouble remembering what they were previously talking about.
I slowly glanced up around me to see, that I had been placed around people I definitely did not want to be around. At. All.
Sheri Cole was beside me. A not so nice person, who liked to tease me when Olivia was no where around and in front of me was Dimitri Stazanovic.
My biggest crush in the whole entire world.
I stared into his beautiful chocolate swirls for eyes, and felt myself staring to drool. So I quickly turned my head towards Olivia, who had her eyebrow popped up at me.
I stared at her shocked, that she had finally clicked on.
Since forever, Olivia has been trying to find out who I had a crush on. But I would just not budge, not even my teddies new about Dimitri!
Olivia gave me a look that said - we are SO talking about this later!!
I groaned and shoved my head in my hands. Why the hell did i let her bring me here?!
~*~ Later ~*~
Olivia looks at my skinny wrist as she paints my nails a pale blue.
"I hate you. You're so skinny and perfect." She mutters, smirking at me.
I gasped in shock,"I wish I looked like you. You're the perfect size. I'm disgusting. I ate a ridiculous amount last night, and still I have hardly any fat on me."
I groan looking at my skeletal body.
"You don't have any fat, you nutter." She laughs, finishing my last nail.
"So, Dimitri, hey?" Olivia winked, sticking silver moons onto my nails.
I feel my cheeks flush red. She now knew my deepest secret. The reason I didn't tell Olivia before, is not a matter of trust. It's the fact how now, she will never let it go.
I start to daydream and imagine us when we're forty, and she'll say "Remember when you liked that Dimitri man? You thought you loved him, you silly old 'mare!"..
"June!" She shouts, shaking me. "When did you start liking Dimitri? I mean really, I'm pleased I am. I didn't think you had it in you." She laughs.
I snatch away my hand. I know she's saying it half-heartedly, but I feel embarrassment grow deep inside of me.
"What are you doing? I'm not finished! Stop being silly." She sighs, grabbing back my hand.
I watch her wince when she grabs my wrist, and then I realise she find's it disgusting as well. Feeling my bones and seeing my veins.
But then tears spill from her eyes.
"Olivia? What is it, what's wrong!?" I gabble, running to the bathroom to get tissue. As I open the door of my bedroom, I hear the front door slam, and Olivia was gone.
