I glanced at my clock and it read 3:27 AM. I climbed into bed around 10 PM and since then it's been a night of restlessness. My mind has been a three ringed circus. Always busy and never slowing down. Bills, rent, food, and whatever else I need all costs too much. Work has been a shit show between my idiot boss and I. Plus, my hours were cut in half. Which means I have the next four days off, which will not be good for my wallet. I wish I had a boyfriend like all my other friends. Instead, here I am single and awake in the middle of the night. My brain felt 2 sizes too big, so I had to get up. I walked to my window and opened it all the way. Damn, I should've put in a screen when I had the chance. My only wish, at this moment, is to have more money falling out of my ass. The moon lit up the sky and blanketed the desert with a gorgeous glow. The air felt nice and cool. I gave a small grin followed by a whistle. Just then, a loud whistle came from the desert, as if it was in reply.
I took a step back from the window with my heart beating faster. This side of my house faced the desert and I knew there wouldn't be anyone out there at this hour. At least I hoped there wasn't a person out there. Right when I moved into shut my window there it was again. A loud whistle, this time it sounded a lot closer. I shut my window and pulled the curtain over. My body was shaking all over and I had goosebumps. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard scratching noises coming from my front door. It was almost like a dog scratching on my door wanting to come in. After what seemed like forever, the sound finally stopped. I heard whistling again but this time from multiple sources. For a moment I stood there in fright, but eventually I went back to my bed. “Open the door” said a voice coming from the other side of my front door. I heard it all the way from my bedroom. My body couldn't stop trembling, but then there was a tapping at my window. “let us in” a voice called out. I took a deep breath and assumed it was just punk kids messing with me. “Get the hell away from my property! I have a gun and I'll use it!” I shouted back, even though I didn't own a gun. I hoped that it would scare them off. Outside my window I heard giggling followed by tapping on the glass. “We won't hurt you, we like you.” the voice said
I reached for my phone, which is what should have done a few minutes ago. When I unlocked it and hit 911, the battery immediately drained.I quickly tried to plug it into my charger, but as I connected the phone it wasn't charging. This time I heard scratching coming from the window. There was whistling and giggling coming from outside. I reached and grabbed my hairbrush. My only defense was to hold it like a gun. It was dark and I was sure that it wouldn't be noticeable. I made my way to the window holding out my brush like a gun. A deep breath and will power helped me pull open my curtain. The moonlight poured in my room as I stood in horror. Outside my window were tiny people, hairy little people. Small, but tall enough to see into my room with dark beady eyes, they just stood there smiling at me. They looked up at me and began scratching at the window. There were three of them and I had no idea what they wanted. “Let us in” one of them said. “We can get you money” another one spoke. I shook my head slowly backing away from the window.
Those little men kept tapping and scratching the glass. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest. Could they have read my mind? Why are they offering to get me money? There was an awful vibe that filled the air. Fear absolutely took over now. I dropped my brush and let out a blood curdling scream! The creatures didn't react to my screaming very well. They covered their ears with their tiny hands. All three of them ran off into the desert. I stopped screaming and heard little footsteps scamper off into the desert. The first thing I did was close the curtain. My overnight bag was in the closet and went to grab it. I took my car keys and raced out the door.
My adrenaline was pumping and there was no way in hell I was coming back to this house. Whatever they were, I hoped to God that weren't going to follow me. I backed out my car and zoomed off. After tonight, I don't think I'll ever sleep again. The End
