"I find it absolutely ridiculous how long we had to wait just for the freaking mechanic to get there! They need to hire a new one, the dude walked like a turtle!" He exclaimed as we walked through my apartment door, laughing.

"Give him a rest Lee! He was like, 96 years old!" I say back as we howl in laughter.

As I turn the lights to the apartment on, it was then when had just realized the party was over. Everyone left and let me say, they did quite an amazing job at cleaning up. I was being sarcastic by the way. It was the complete opposite.

Jakob's toys were everywhere. A pizza box was on the coffee table. And the worst one.... The paint stains on the ivory carpet. Cue the tears springing to my eyes, not really.

"Well looks like someone doesn't like cleaning up their mess.." Liam whistles. I smack his arm and set down the bags by the hall. Liam copying my actions.

"Ok, I'll make you a deal." I tried, starting a bargain. He stands straight again, breathing out after setting the bags next to mine. He poses with his hands on his hips.

"You clean up while I go and find the wrapping paper, tape, scissors, tags, and bows." I say motioning around the room and listing off the items with my fingers one by one. He sighs and says, "Fine. Alright, lets get to work. Go, go, go." He says while clapping his hands.

I halt and stomp my foot while saluting to him. "Yes Captain Payne, sir!" He stands tall with his back straight.

"Dismissed." He waves me off in the direction of my room with a small smile, hands still behind him. I laugh and start going up the stairs. I search in my night stand drawers for the tape and scissors and successfully find them.

I'm like a tornado though when I start looking for the wrapping paper, bows, and tags. I throw a lot of my stuff that was in my closet around, hoping to maybe find them somewhere in the tub of Christmas stuff I have somewhere around here. I have no luck and come to a conclusion it's no where in my closet.

I run a hand through my hair thoughtfully and tap my chin wondering where it could be. I grab the 2 items I managed to find and slide on the stairs. I find the living room clean but that blasted stain taunts me. I should have warned them to not let Jake get his hands on anything Crayola. He'll either break it, squeeze it, or eat it and none of those are good.

"Liam!" I called.

"In here!" He said from the kitchen. I walked into it only to find him pigging out on my food. I laugh at him.

"Fwat?" He asked with food stuffed in his mouth.

"Ew! I don't like sea food!! Keep your mouth closed!" I say laughing still. He shrugs again as food flies out of his mouth and I double over in laughter.

"We fidn't eat at Olif Garden!" He exclaims. I shake my head and wipe a tear away.

"What do you want? I'll make it for you." I say after recovering. He shrugs and I shake my head frustratingly while smiling.

"You're no help Payne." He smiles, showing his full mouth with junk food and what looks like my Nutella laced in his teeth. "Macaroni sound ok?" He nods his head really fast and I give him a water bottle to wash all that's in his teeth away.

"I'm in charge now maggot! Now go sit down and... um, and just sit there!" I don't sound to convincing for a Captain. Liam just gives me that 'really?' look with his eyebrow raised. "That's an order Payne!" I give him a stern look and now it's his turn to salute me. He nods and turns on his heel outside the kitchen entrance and to the living room. I get to work and start our dinner that we were suppose to have about an hour ago.

The wrapping paper made a sound as I let the scissors cross the stiff material. Liam and I ate and had gotten to work right after 2 short hours of already being home. I had successfully wrapped my 15 gifts. They're just missing the bows and tags. My list would consist of: the boys, El and Perrie, Cassie with her brother and sister, Jakob, Kenny, and work.

Liam's list was pretty hefty as well. He had his whole crew (basically my list minus Cassie and Kenny) and he had his..... family.

It feels so foreign. The way the word rolls off my tongue. It's sad really. That should be a word that is suppose to be second nature for everybody. But that just reminds me that not everybody is the same. I mean, it's obvious we aren't the same, but it's just a reminder that you're not the only one, you know?

"I need to go get those bows and tags." I say to Liam.

"Where was the last place you had 'em when you moved in?" He asked.

"Um, I don't know. John was the one that last had it..." I stopped and looked at him. He nodded and sighed. I gulped as I stood up. all the activity seemed to stop in the flat, to me even time had stopped, as I moved down the end of the hallway getting nearer and nearer to the door I have dreaded to come in to ever since his presence no longer occupied the empty space. When I had my hand on the handle, my breathing erratic and hands shaking. I can slowly feel the hyperventilation on my back. It's hand lingering just on top of my skin. But it was his comforting voice that calmed my senses the slightest bit.....

And what he said was what calmed me altogether.

He cleared his throat. "Jess, you don't have to do this alone." I turned my head to look down the hall only to notice he had been right behind me all along. "You know I'm here if you need me Jay."

He grabbed my hand and clasped it with his. Us bearing the door together.

"If you want me to feel what you feel, I'll let my emotions run wild so they can match the hurt, happiness, and sorrow you'll feel. If you want me to cry when you cry, so be it. If you want me to experience the moments and memories you make along the roller coaster called life, I will. You just have to be willing to let me in Jessie. Because I'm up for it if you are."

He had come so close to my I could smell the Old Spice lingering off him. His lips were centimeters away from mine and he flickered his eyes at them, silently asking for permission. But I was only going to give him one answer, and you know what they say.

Actions speak louder than words.

So I kissed him. I made my feelings towards him loud and clear. Every feeling of every fiber in our beings was radiating off of us and into this intimate moment. Happiness, relief, remembrance... All of them. But I think it was after the kiss, when he grabbed my hand and held them up for me to see, and motioned for me to open the door was when I really knew the answer for myself. Knew the answer because I was completely 100% sure about it.

It was then I had realized I finally found someone to love again
