I woke up the next morning from a dreamless sleep on the couch. I remember falling asleep last night doing work for my temporary classes. I looked around and noticed all of it on the table. The next thing I noticed is I had been covered up with a blanket. Sitting up and rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I looked around the room to see Sam and Dean asleep. Curious as to why they were asleep, especially Sam, I looked at the clock. 5:53; why in the world was I awake at this ungodly hour?

I knew I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, so I got an outfit together and went to the bathroom to take a shower and brush my teeth. I let the warm water wash over me, using the motel shampoo to wash my hair. I stood for a few minutes, figuring I had time to kill.

When I walked out of the bathroom, Sam was awake and Dean was still asleep. By this point, I've come up with the theory that though he's a grown man, his sleep habits remain in his teenage years.

"Morning Ava," he says, his tone wide awake.

"That it is," I say, holding back a yawn. Sam pulls out his laptop and opens it at the table. I sit across from him. I'm silent for a few minutes before I get up the courage to ask. "What're you doing?"

Sam glances up at me before saying simply, "Looking for a case,"

"Have you found anything?"

Again, Sam glances from the screen to me, this time giving off a cautious look. "Maybe,"

"Can I help?"

"Ava," Sam sighs. "Dean doesn't want you in the life, and I'm trying to respect that."

"Yeah, but if I just help you look, that doesn't mean I'm gonna be doing any hunting."

"Ava, can-"

"Please, Sam," I interrupt. "I promise if Dean gets mad at you, I'll take all the blame. I just want to learn how to find them." Sam stared at me for a moment. I waited for him to come to a decision, but it felt like he took forever. Finally, he motioned for me to move so I could see the screen. A large smile crawled up on my face and he started showing me what kind of thing I should look for. Weird deaths or an animal attack that seems like it wasn't an animal. From there looking to see certain details for certain monsters. A werewolf case would be during a full moon with the hearts of the victims missing. When you're hunting a demon, you'll usually find sulfur.

"Do you think you'd be able to find us a case?" Sam asks me. "If you think so, I'll give you twenty-four hours." I nod enthusiastically.

"If there is a case, I can find it, I promise."

"Alright, well, start looking before you go. You've only got twenty-three hours and fifty-nine minutes." Sam got up from sitting in front of his laptop and motioned for me to move in front of it. As I did, he headed into the bathroom for his shower.

I looked through several different newspapers only finding missing persons. It did spark up a red flag with three people going missing in the past two weeks. I went through any information I could bring up on the spot on what creatures basically kidnapped their victims. Almost all of them, really. I sigh and come to the conclusion that I'd have to work on it more later when I had time.

I look at the clock to check on the time. 6:48. There was about fifteen more minutes until I had to start getting my stuff into my backpack. As if on cue, Dean's snores sputtered before he wakes up. He looks at me, confused.

"Why are you up? What time is it?" Dean's eyes open and close with fatigue. I can tell he's still tired, so something must've woken him up.

"Almost seven," I tell him. He rubs the sleep from his eyes and swings his legs off the bed, standing up.
