Sweet Perfection
Chapter 1 - Superstar's Life
I was sitting down, sipping on my Starbucks, cup of coffee. I hated waiting for people, but this was important. The old man, dressed in a blazer and dress pants sat in the seat, across from me. He had a mug, in his had and a brief case.
"Hello, Ms. Aubrey Veradis," He greeted me with a warm smile.
"Mr. Joseph Hanks," I said, with a nod.
My manager, Peyton Brookes, stuck out her hand and shook his. Peyton is also my best friend. Her flowing red hair was curled to perfection and her pale skin made her stick out. Her hazel eyes contributed to her beautiful looks. Being only twenty four, she understood me, most of the time.
"So, Mr.Hanks, I hear you're casting a new film and you want Aubrey to be the main role?"
"Yes mam," He replied. "She has the perfect look and she's the biggest thing out there now. She's absolutely perfect. If you agree, I have the contract."
"Yes, we've gone over the script and it'd be her pleasure to participate in your movie," Peyton said sophisticatedly.
"But we have one condition."
"What is it?" Peyton asked Joseph.
"She must be the character. She has to experience what the main character, Holly, has to. She must go back to high school and finish up her senior year." He said, quickly, examining the looks on our faces.
"But I can't." I said, standing up.
"But she will. Thank you Mr.Hanks," She said, sending me a threatening look. She grabbed my hand and pulled me outside.
I rolled my eyes and we slipped in to the limo that was waiting for us, outside. Papparazi was everywhere. I guess the huge dark sunglasses weren't doing me any good.
"Another gig!" Peyton exclaimed.
"Yeah, I guess." I sighed.
"What's wrong?" She asked, with concerning eyes.
"Peyton, he said I had to go back to high school! What the heck? That's the last place I want to be right now! And you know it; that was the worst three years of my life."
"But come on, you were home school junior year and now, it's your senior. Take advantage of it, and have fun! Plus, no one's going to make fun of you or anything. You're the best thing out there; you're Aubrey Veradis, for god's sakes!"
"Not when I was in sophomore year! I was the dorky girl with glasses."
"But you aren't now."
I sighed, knowing there was no way I could win the conversation. Peyton grinned and clapped her hands. She was so childish sometimes. We climbed out of the limo and Hayden was happily waiting for me, at the front of his gates. He took my hand in his and led me inside. Papparazi were quite touchy, so he practically hovered over me.
We got inside and he pulled me in to his arms. I lifted my head to look at him.
"Hey big brother," I said to him.
"I missed you!" He said, hugging me even tighter.
I chuckled, and he let go of me. Hayden's two sons came running towards me and grabbed on to my bare legs.
"Nice to see you guys too, Brandon, Kayden!" I said, laughing. I picked Brandon in to my arms. Brandon and Kayden were twins, who were both about four years old. They had blond hair and sea blue eyes. I can tell, they're going to be pretty hot when they grow up. I mentally laughed at myself.
We sat down in the living room and Katy, Hayden's wife brought in some tea for us. She smiled and quickly hugged me.
"So, Aubrey, what brings you here?" Katy asked sweetly.
"Oh, well, I've just been casted in a new movie," I said.
"Oh, that's fantastic!" Katy shot up from her seat, giggling.
"Well, I have to finish my senior year first, though," I sucked in a deep breath.
"Aw, honey. I'm sorry, but it'll be better than before. I'm sure it'll be fun," She said, sympathetically.
"That's what I said," Peyton muttered, beside me.
I nudged her and she stuck her tongue out at me.
"I think it'll do you some good; it'll brighten you up," Hayden spoke up.
"I am brightened up," I argued.
"Oh please, not since dad's death. Plus, you never visit mom with me anymore," He stated.
I gulped, "I know, but I plan on going soon."
My dad passed away a few years ago, before high school started. He told me that high school was the best experience of his life. But after he died, it felt like nothing was left living for anymore. So, I shut down. I wasn't social, at all.
Two years ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and has been in the hospital for better treatment. It hurts to see her like that. That's why I don't visit her. Because it hurts too much.
I stayed for dinner, with Hayden's family. Katy had fixed up some turkey, my favorite. It was like a Thanksgiving feast. I always like to come to Hayden's house. It feels welcoming. It makes me feel like I actually have a normal family.
I called my limo driver, Jim, and he came to pick me up immediately. When he arrived, I bid my farewells and slipped inside the vehicle.
"Home, please Jim," I ordered.
He simply nodded and drove along.
Peyton had already left in a taxi because she had a family reunion to attend to. She invited me but I declined because, well, it'd be really awkward for me. She has the perfect family. She has the perfect boyfriend. The sweetest parents. And their family was pretty well off. Perfect, was the only word that could describe them.
"We're here, Ms.Veradis," Jim, said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I nodded and put on my sunglasses, even though it was already nine o'clock pm. The paparazzi were flashing their expensive cameras. They were shouting questions and such at me. I held up my hand and ignored them, making my way up towards my condo.
"Is it true you're starring in a new movie?"
"Is it true you're in a relationship with Scott Davidson?"
"Is it true?"
I rolled my eyes and pushed the button on the elevator as the policemen in front of the lobby, took care of the paparazzi. I let out a deep breath and the elevator door opened. I stepped on to my floor, which is the twentieth and walked down the hall to my room number, 2001. I unlocked the door and slipped out of my dress. I slipped on my pajamas and sat down on my couch.
I turned on the tv and of course, my face was on it. I scrunched my face. Huh? I didn't have any big news coming out. I turned up the volume.
"It appears that the big, bad actress Aubrey Veradis has finally settled down with Mr.Scott Davidson, the scrumptious male model," The lady on the screen announced with a picture of me and Scott.
We were only having coffee! Ugh, oh how I hate how people can just twist appearances. I mentally scoffed. I wonder what they'll have to say when it's announced that I'm going back to high school...
Let me know what you think ! ;)
