I had a friend.

Someone I've always relied on my worst days.

I had a friend.

Someone who had spent hours talking about random and weird stuff.

I had a friend.

Someone who managed to create such strong ties with me, and silly phrases such as 'Green elephant' somehow made that tie stronger.

I had a friend.

Someone who would do anything to make me smile including buying me biscuits and bringing them over even if it was three in the morning.

I had a friend.

Someone who offered me endless comforting hugs when I informed them I'd be moving to a different country.

I had a friend.

Someone who promised to message me daily and would Skype me every once in a while.

I had a friend.

Someone who spent all night skyping, sometimes even falling asleep together to wake up realising the call was still on.

I had a friend.

Someone who also had to move to a different country...

...But that was when things went downhill.

You started ignoring your friends.

You forgot all the promises you made.

You became selfish and stubborn,

And to this day you still haven't admitted you were mistaken

You said you were working on something life changing,

Yet it was still a secret to share with me.

We argued.

Argued all day and all night.

Argued for two whole weeks.

And since that cursed day,

We haven't spoken.

I had a friend.

Someone who had already let go of this friendship and did not put in the effort to save it anymore.

I had a friend.

Someone who gave me memories to hold onto,

But today I finally let go of those memories.

Today is the day I move on the same way you did a year ago.

Today I say 'I once had a friend' I thought I've lost,

...But turns out you had lost me long before.
