suffocating in a blanket of darkness
Thick and unforgiving
trying to escape but frozen in icy fear
Heart pounding, feet unable to move
Crying out in the darkness
trying to go forward but unable to breathe
I see the slightest sliver of light and reach
out to it
I hold it close to my heart and go forward.
