Small creature biology is a much more boring class than I expected, and even the teacher is having obvious troubles staying awake. Within minutes my eyes are drifting closed and I can feel gravity losing its hold on me.
Anubis chuckles, taking a swig from the bottle before handing it to me. "Come on Doll, drink. It's good for the heart." I stare at the red wine, unsure of what to do next. I take a quick sip of the dark red liquid, hands shaking despite the fact that I'm fully sober. From the howling laughter of Anubis I can guess that my face looks stranger than it feels.
"That's... good. Not exactly my favorite, but good." The laughter eventually stops, leaving him with nothing but a smile as he stares at me.
"It's a vintage from before the first assault on Earth. Enjoy it." He pours a cup of the wine and offers it to me, still smiling.
"You look like a fool with that grin on your face." I say, immediately recognizing how hypocritical the statement was as I start smiling as well. It prompts more laughter, but from both parties. So much for being sober...
"Really? Well you," he says as he adjusts my hair, "look beautiful in the moonlight." Before either of us take the time to think about what we're doing we kiss, and everything seems to slow down. After what feels like an eternity we release, and he's grinning like a madman again.
"Th- that um..." I'm at a loss of words, and at a definite lack of air.
"Interesting. I figured you'd blush at the very least." I stutter on my words, but manage to get a sentence out.
"It's h-hard t-to get blood flowing to your face when y-your heart's stopped."I shoot up, now incredibly awake. Anubis is obviously trying not to snicker.
"What's so funny?" He laughs, almost silently. Almost.
"You were murmuring in your sleep. So, who's the guy?" Oh thank God I never said his name in that... dream? Was it a dream? It felt so real...
"Uh. Nobody. An ex." He nods, before sliding me a piece of paper. "What's this?"
"I took your notes and mine while you were sleeping. This is the only time I'll help out in a class, by the way, so try not to doze off anymore. The instructor looks towards Anubis and he snaps to attention, obviously done talking to me for now. I can't bring myself to look at him for the rest of the class period.
