The cave became lighter as the sun made its way higher into the cloudless sky. The sound of chirping birds echoed through the hollow side of the mountain where we both camped. It had felt like an eternity, like the sun became brighter. I gazed out into the forest, figuring out what the sun felt like on my skin. What the warmth my body had been seeking for.

I took my vest off and placed it beside myself. While placing it down, my eyes caught sight of Kakashi, who laid asleep. His body seemed to be exhausted, had being up all night fighting. His sword was placed not so far from his body, perhaps only half a meter away.

I made my way silently towards him, avoiding anything that could have woken him from his slumber. I soon came to smile as the sword was near my feet. I took a steady breath in and slowly knelt down, watching him as I was reaching for his sword. I hesitated to look away but as I did, the sword was within my reach. My fingers wrapped itself around the handle and quietly heaved the sword up.

Then in a sudden, his hand gripped my wrist that held the sword. Being in shock I let the weapon fall back onto the ground. A forced pulled me over his body then he was on top trapping me. My body was urging me to scream, to call out, but I couldn’t. I gasped silently and gazed up at his masked face.

“Is this the way you serve me? Zarachael.” His voice didn’t sound surprised.

I caught my breath and soon began to speak, “I n-need the sword, i-in order for m-my safety.”

His grip tightened and in that moment he pulled out a kunai, holding it out in front of my face.

“I was going to get water by a nearby river! I needed the sword if I ran into trouble!” Tears began to fall as I finished shouting.

He stayed above me for a minute before moving off to sit down. I laid there and sobbed, how could I become so weak and helpless. It was only nights ago that I had fought him, he was my enemy and he would always stay like that.

Every time he was near, my heart would beat fast and unsteady. I was afraid of him, and the thought of him hurting me played itself in my mind in many different forms. He had this look in his eye, a cold look, like there were many things he had regretted.

I did not notice it but my wound had still been bleeding. I hadn’t approve to aid myself for there was no need, so I got up and made my way to the entrance of the cave. The light took over my body and I was covered in the sun’s rays. The warmth of it finally being on me made my body tingle, I simply smiled and lifted my head towards the sky.

“Zarachael?”

The smile on my face disappeared as I faced the cave.

Kakashi began to walk towards me with his wounded shoulder, looking like nothing more but a weak ninja.

“Yes?” I answered.

He stood there, staring at me, like he was trying to analyze me. I smiled and turned my back onto him before making my way to the river.

I was weaving through trees, trying to find my way to the river when a little fox scurried across my path. I looked at the direction where it had ran from soon hearing male voices. I jumped back and hid behind a tree, having no weapons I was helpless.

“Yeah, she was one of the few female ninja’s in our village.”

“How embarrassing, and she was taken as hostage right?”

“Yeah, after she was wounded she became so weak, that’s why she was taken. Shin said he let her get taken, she was no use to him anymore.”

I clenched my fist in anger and exhaled slowly. How could anyone, especially Shin, do this to a comrade? Or was that what he wanted me to think, that I was someone he cared about.
