Before the night of his birthday and the mission, Kakashi went to sleep sooner than I had expected him too. I had already ordered a pick up cake from the small bakery down the street without him knowing. It was around about ten thirty in the night that I had decided to go, the owners of the bakery already knew I was going to be late for the pickup.

I walked quietly into the lounge room and watched shyly at his shirtless posture on the couch. I quietly smiled and walked out when his voice groaned. I stood motionless and the nervousness of my secret mission was on the edge of becoming a fail, when soon after a snore broke the tension. Relief overtook my mind and I literally stooped onto my knees.

The night was quiet and lights from the buildings lit the narrow street. The smell of fresh noodles and small night stalls filled the atmosphere as I made my way past each one of them. I reached the bakery within five minutes before I knocked on the glass door.

The sign was turned on ‘closed’ but the owner smiled politely before opening the door, “The pickup order for Miss Zarachael?”

I bobbed my head, “Yes thank you.”

The owner turned to his assistants, “Order for Miss Zarachael!”

As his assistant went around to the back she brought out a medium sized white box containing the birthday cake. I smiled curiously at what it looked like.

The owner took it from his assistance grasp, “Thank you Ai,” As he brought it forth to me, he opened it, “To Kakashi Sensei, hey?”

I looked up from the vanilla cake, it was covered in chocolate icing, “Yeah,” I gave him a smile.

“I’ll give this to you seventy-five percent off!”

My mouth dropped, “Sor- I-. Are you sure?”

He nodded, “Yes, Kakashi has done much for me and my family,” He looked down at his creation and smiled, “actually just take it, it’s on the house!”

I glared down amazed at the cake and looked back up at him, “No I couldn’t!”

He smiled, “It’ll be a present from me to Kakashi!”

I looked down as he closed the box, “Ho-How did you know it was for Kakashi?”

“My assistant said she saw you with Kakashi one time, I think this was when you were in the hospital.”

I gasped, “Oh,” I bowed down, “Thank you!”

He handed the white box over to me. I bowed once more before smiling at him. I began making my way back to the apartment and smiled down at the white box.

As I opened the door to the apartment, Kakashi sat by the table without his shirt on. Only his mask covered his face. He hadn’t worn his head band, so both his eyes were exposed, but he closed one off.

He didn’t look over, “Where were you?”

I hid the box behind my back, the time was already eleven.

I had to stall untill it was at least twelve, midnight when I could actually say happy birthday to him, “I was doing something.”

He got up, causing the chair to grind with the floor when his face under his masked tensed, “Whatever…”

Did he think I was doing something with Guy, “Kakashi if you’re thinking of stupid thoughts again I-”

“Do whatever you want…”
