We looked over heads to see a bowl cut boy staring at both Ten-Ten and I, it was Lee. Ten-Ten took a hold of my arm and lead me to where Lee had sat.
“Where is the rest of the Gang?” Ten-Ten’s voice was a little embarrassed. Lee had gazed at her so dreamy, “Lee?”
“Oh, ah they didn’t want to stay and watch so I insisted on letting you know, I actually wanted to watch it.”
We laughed and cried and applauded at the show, could the Komodo dragon become anymore mysterious than it already was?
After the ceremony had finished off with a massive round of applaud, we all stood up and headed off to the street stalls. Ten-Ten and Lee collaborated well enough to have been mistaken as a couple.
We ate ramen, barbequed squid, fish, desserts and more desserts until our stomachs couldn’t handle it.
“I feel so stuffed!” Ten-Ten began to pat down her stomach.
Lee turned to her and smiled with a gleam in his eye, “It’s a great feeling isn’t it?” We all laughed as he began to scoff down the rest of his food.
It had almost been two hours and we still hadn’t bumped into Kakashi, Guy or Neji.
“Lee?” My voice a little worried, “Did the boys tell you where they were going?”
Lee shook his head, “No, but the two still had rival stuff to settle!”
The two… Kakashi and Guy… Rivalry…
“They must be versing each other in some game!”
We eventually got up and moved down to where the game stalls stood shimmering down by the streets. Laughter sounded from every game stall caught our attentions curiously.
In less than twenty minutes Ten-Ten saw Neji in the distance.
She took a hold of my arm and hid herself, “It-It’s Neji! Wh-What do I do?”
“Well we have to approach them or we’ll never find Guy Sensei and Kakashi Sensei!” Lee smiled happily.
Her body began to quiver, “I don’t know what to do!”
“NEJI!” Lee began waving his arms until Neji looked over.
Ten-Ten’s body jerked behind mine, “Oh!”
Neji jogged over to Lee, “Where’s Zarachael and Ten-Ten?”
Lee’s face became confused, “Their right here!”
Neji looked up at me and his eyes widened, “Zarachael?” I smiled politely and nodded once, he looked back down at Lee then back up to me, “Then where’s Ten-Ten?”
As Ten-Ten heard her name from Neji’s mouth she jolted behind me and grasped onto my arm. She leaned her head into my back before her body took in a deep breath.
She stuck out her arm, “I’m here…”
“Why are you hiding?” Neji stood confused before us.
Ten-Ten hesitantly made her way from behind me and stood beside me with her head bowed down, cutting off any source of eye contact with Neji.
His eyes widened and his face burnt red, he quickly looked away and chuckled amused. Ten-Ten’s face shimmered in embarrassment and slowly looked up at Neji. Before she could have turned away, Neji had a perfect look at her face.
The smirk on his face disappeared as he had a perfect view of what she looked like. His eyes widened and his cheeks burnt with shyness, “Ten-Ten…”
“Yes?”
He’s mouth began to quiver, “You-You-”
“She looks amazing right Neji!” Lee swung his arm over her shoulder. The stare he got from Ten-Ten was murderous.
I laughed quietly behind the scene when suddenly Guy’s laughter overruled all laughter’s down the street. We all turned to the maniac laughter and slowly drifted to the game stall. Lee ran out ahead of us to see the commotion before waving us over. I looked over to Ten-Ten who blushed uncontrollably. She flushed red as Neji walked silently beside her.
“Ten-Ten, Neji, go on ahead I just want to see this.” They continued on down the street as I watched from behind as they walked on ahead.
I smiled at the scene before entering the kite stall that had caught my attention. There were so many different types that covered the tables, walls and that hung on display. I continued to look when I thought of Ten-Ten, I’m sure she would like one, I grabbed two kites, one was shaped as a hawk and the other shaped as a diamond. I smiled before walking to the counter where an old lady smiled cheerfully.
“Is this all that you need?”
I smiled politely and nodded, “Yes thank you!”
“Funny isn’t it?”
I tilted my head to the side and waited for her to reply.
“You’re here all alone,” I looked down and a small smile grew on my face, she was right, I am alone, she continued on with an amused voice “Usually a mother like you would bring in their children!”
My eyes glanced up, a mother?
She smiled politely, “You have children don’t you?”
I laughed at her choice of words, “No, not yet anyways!”
She covered her mouth in embarrassment, “I-I just thought that- because- you look so- so-”
I waved my arms in front of my body, “It’s okay, I hope to be a mother one day though. Have as many of them that this body can give me. Just to be at some peaceful place and watch them scatter themselves across the yard!”
She grew a smile on her face and handed the wrapped kites, “I hope your wishes come true.”
I smiled at her before handing the money over.
The night was cool and the lanterns lite the streets with different colours. Laughter and yells continued to get louder as the night stretched longer.
My eyes continued to wonder until they spotted the one thing my heart was seeking for all night. I covered my face with the wrapped kites and made my way closer to the stall. My heart began to beat faster as he looked to my direction but look away in disinterest. My heart dropped as he didn’t say a word when I passed him.
Everyone was there but Lee and Guy, finally on a toilet break I guess.
I giggled to myself when Ten-Ten embraced me into her arms, “Zarachael!” Ten-Ten’s voice full of excitement, “You’re finally here!”
I smiled as I passed her the wrapped hawk kite, “Here, thank you for today.”
“What’s thi-”
“Zarachael?” My heart pounded to Kakashi unanswered call.
I looked onto the ground and felt my heart skip many beats as I slowly turned to his direction. I soon was staring at his feet when he made his way closer towards me. He placed both his hands onto my cheek and lifted my head to meet his surprised gaze.
“Zarachael…”
I turned away shyly and gripped onto the other kite, I held it to his chest, “A-and this is for you, Kakashi…”
His smile appeared through his mask as he took it, “Thank you.” His eyes didn’t move from my reddened face.
“Zarachael is that you?” Guy was standing at the entrance.
I turned to him with a smile as he made his way forward, “Guy! You’re finally back, I was wondering if you lost to Kakashi already!”
His face turned annoyed before he pouted, “He wishes!”
Lee ran in through the entrance before taking a hold of Ten-Ten’s arm, “Hey the show’s about to begin, if we don’t get there they’ll start without us!”
She smiled to her friend before she looked towards Neji, “Were you going to watch too?”
Neji turned away and sighed, “If it’s with you, then yeah. Okay…”
Lee slowly released her arm and noticed that Ten-Ten had only looked at Neji when she spoke, or when she smiled, or when she blushed.
His face soon dulled down up until Guy swung his arm over his student, “It seems like it’s you and me Lee.”
“Sensei!”
Kakashi took ahold of my hand and led us to a different section away from the group, my face flushed red when he hadn’t let go. We weren’t close to the team anymore but even away from where all the stalls were. He continued to make his way through the many people that crowded the pubs and passed swiftly through.
He led us further away until we stood underneath a blossoming tree near a small lake. Crickets sounded away as the moon glistened off the water and into the scenery that surrounded it. I looked away and held my closed palms to my chest, trying my best to calm my rapid heart rate.
“Zarachael…” His voice as soft as the calm lake, I slowly turned to his direction but hadn’t looked at his face.
For all the times we were alone I had never felt this nervous before, we had lived together and eaten together but never this. Was I only nervous because I had put in a lot of effort in trying to impress him tonight? He didn’t care when he first looked at me, well that was maybe because I hid away from him. I slowly placed my hand onto my head and thumped my skull with my palm.
He stepped in suddenly and took a hold of my wrist.
I looked up stunned when he carefully moved the hair that covered my face, “Zarachael…”
I slowly stepped back, “Kakashi I-”
“Don’t move…” His voice only a whisper, my heart was almost at the brink of exploding when he tugged me forward into his chest, “Zarachael…”
“Kakashi…” My voice sounded out nervous that he chuckled to himself amused. I couldn’t help but look away from him and into the lake. He was saying my name so fondly that it made me feel weak. He placed his finger underneath my chin and carefully brought my face to meet his eye. I looked down to his mask and closed my eyes with fear. I was nervous, so nervous that I wanted to fall. He pulled me into his chest where he held me so tenderly. My knees finally buckled and Kakashi held onto me tighter before we slowly came to siting by each other. I had already kissed Kakashi before but at this point in time it felt like Kakashi and I were meeting for the first time. Every time I had token a breath in my body seemed to be less mobile then it was before.
It had only passed a few minutes when loud explosions appeared in the sky, the show had already begun. Fire crackers of all sorts and colours lit the sky and sparkled back down before disintegrating in mid-air. Kakashi placed his warm hand over mine and continued to look ahead where the show was displayed. I turned to face him until he caught my gaze. I jolted and turned back to the scene of fireworks when he leaned in closer to me. His breath on the side of my cheek made my heart pound against my ribs. I turned to face him when he gripped onto my hand with his and drew my body onto the ground, his body slightly on top of mine. I couldn’t move, at this point I would have tried to run or assume that this was all something else, but this time it felt different. My free hand glided from his shoulder to his chest where it soon rested on the side of Kakashi’s face.
His voice only so quietly, “Let me make up for the time I wasn’t with you today…”
I took in a deep breath to only feel my stomach churn with agitation. Had Kakashi missed me for the short while we weren’t together. To be honest it felt like a whole week that I hadn’t seen him. I smiled weakly and watched as his eye gazed so caringly at me.
He placed his hand onto mine, slowly pulling down his mask. He pulled away his head band but kept the scared eye closed before he slowly leaned in down towards me.
“Kakashi…” He stopped in the process to my small cry.
“Yes,” His voice was ever so gentle, “Zarachael?”
I was about to say something that I shouldn’t, the three words that would change our lives forever, or maybe only to me. My lips trembled and my stomach began to churn unconditionally to what state we were in. I brought my hand down and laid it on top of my beating heart, what I was about to say wasn’t going to be easy.
“I-I…” I wasn’t able to, my lips continued to tremble as I stuttered like a fool, “I…”
His smiling face soon became expressionless as I pulled his body down. Our lips interlocked and I entwined my arms around the back of his neck, leaving no room for him to move away. Through the kisses I could feel him smile as he noticed I tried to dust away what I was about to say. I closed my eyes as we continued. One of his arms soon enfolded itself underneath my back bringing my body up towards his. I pulled my head away and felt the distant between my body and the ground.
I let my head fall back when his soft lips followed after, I gasped, a little embarrassed, “Kakashi…”
I held on to his uniform and brought my lips back for his kisses.
He slowly pulled himself back and smiled after the firecracker display had finished, it went on for quiet a while, nothing major happening really… I only wished. He gave me one last kiss before getting onto his feet. He reached down and pulled me up by the waist before I stood straight onto my feet in front of his body.
“Would you like to finish what you said early?”
I turned away and adjusted my kimono, “No…” I lied.
He brought his body behind me and leaned his head onto my shoulder, “Are you sure?” His lips placed themselves onto my neck before he broke a sigh, “Could you stutter to me one more time?”
I felt a hot blush fluster across my face, “Kakashi…”
He smile before he turned me to his direction, “I can only assume what you were about to say.”
I latched onto his vest and brought myself into him, “I only hope that you feel the assumption for me too…”
He brought his arms over and caressed me, “I only hope that I was the first to say this but, tonight you look beautiful.”
I tightened my grip on his vest and dug my head into his chest, “You are… the first one…”
