Prelogue

Kayla's Pov,

I woke up to bright white lights shining in my face.

I looked around and realized I was in a hospital room.

I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. I felt myself start to panic, I pushed the red button on the remote for the nurse's desk.

20 minutes later the nurse came in. I pointed to my throat and she nodded "sweetie you were in accident do you remember that?" I thought for a moment and shook my head.

She sighed and sat down.

She looked at me and started explaining everything to me.

"Sweetie the accident you were in did a lot of damage to your vocal cords so we had to remove them" I stared at her in horror and tears fell down my face.

I was now mute and would never be able to talk again.

This day had changed my life forever.
