I know you guys feel like you've waited a long time for this even though it hasn't even been 24 hours. I had a hard time writing this because a lot of stressful things were happening in my life (I can make a whole list but I won't) and I didn't exactly write at my own pace because I felt to pressured by the Instagram community to rush this. I'm sorry but either way, here's the story.

Harry sat down at his desk hesitantly, quill in hand. It's been approximately eight months since the war and he thinks it's finally time. He paused a second, thinking about what he should write and then confidently put his point to his parchment.

To Narcissa Malfoy,

This letter may come as a surprise but I feel that it is necessary. I owe you my life and I would just like to say thank you. Though I may never get a reply, I just wanted to give you my thanks. There is nothing great enough I could possibly give you to make up for your immense act of kindness.

Sincerely,
Harry Potter

Though his letter was short and to the point, Harry knew that is was all that was needed. He rolled up the parchment and it was shortly sent away.

"Harry!" Hermione called excitedly from the doorway of Weasleys Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Ally.

Harry, having put the letter behind him, wanted to see his two best friends again. After the war, he separated himself from the Dursleys and found his own apartment in London and he needed some time for him to unwind from the stress of upkeeping a home at his young age.

"Hermione." Harry sighed, relieved to see her. He walked up to the door and gave her a huge hug, the thought of losing more family leaving his mind.

"Ron's inside with George organizing some shelves. Let's go!" Hermione said bouncing on her toes and taking Harry's hand to pull him inside. Just as the door was about to close, an eagle owl flew in, nearly knocking into their heads and landing on a table before the duo.

"Who's the owl for?" Hermione asked before taking the parchment, clearly confused. "Harry? This is from Narcissa Malfoy..."

"Oh!" Harry immediately jumped in his place and snatched the letter from her hand. He then started reading it furiously as Hermione stood in shock.

Harry,

I'm touched you thought to reach out to me. I've been having a hard time coping and your letter seemed to brighten my day and you're welcome! That was one of the hardest things I've even done. Defying the Dark Lord was a serious thing and I'm glad someone acknowledged my small act. I was so scared and I'm sure you were too. You truly were the chosen one Harry. I hope your time is better than mine has been.

Narcissa Malfoy

"What the heck, Harry?" Hermione flung her hands in the air. "What's happened since I've last seen you."

"I wrote a thank you note." Harry's eyes were still glued to the paper in disbelief and awe. She wrote him back. "Hermione I need a quill, ink, and parchment." He had the owl hop onto his arm before he ventured further into the store.

"Ron!" He called out and his best friend immediately appeared from behind a shelf.

"Oh hey Harry," he said with a smile on his face. "Long time no see, eh?

Harry ignored the greeting and continued with his task at hand. "I need a quill, ink, and parchment pronto."

"What why?"

"I'm sending a letter." He said, gesturing to the large owl perched on his arm. "Also this guy is getting heavy."

"Okay." Ron said with a chuckle and an amused smile on his face. He jogged to the back of the store.
