How to love

Part 7

Nikki's P.O.V

I made my brother promise that he would run away from me if i tried to kill him again. If I ever hurt my brother in any kind of way I would have to punish myself somehow. Rather it be for me to kill myself or something else i would have to do it. I'd never forgive myself if something happened to Max. He is the most important and no one will hurt him. Not even me.

My brother and I had left that part of the forest. We were getting out of here now. I knew that man was going to come back after me, but my brother was going to be no where near when that happened.

My brother and I had left the city. We were getting as far away as we could. We didn't know where we were going. All I knew is that we had to find Mom and Dad fast.

"Max do you have any ideas of where they could have gone?"

"No. The last time I had even heard of their whereabouts was when they sent me this voice mail." We waited for a moment then a recording came on. It sounded like an old lullaby that mother sang to me when I was very young.

"Go to sleep, don't you cry, mom is here, all is right..." It when on like that for a good minute and by the end of it I was very sleepy.

"Max when did you get this message?"

"Just a few months ago. Is it familiar?"

"Yeah. It sounds like the song mother use to sing to me when I couldn't sleep. I was only a child then though."

"Do you think this means something?"

"Maybe. Do you remember where our old house is?"

"No. Is there a reason why we need to go there?"

"Yeah. I think there may be something there that we could use. Maybe Mom or Dad left us a clue there or something, I'm not sure though, just that song seems important somehow. We'll figure this out though."

He gave a short nod and we continued walking.

We'd made it to the edge of town. I started to get a weird feeling in my head and stomach. Max started to stare at me again.

"What are you staring at Max?"

"You're changing again."

I waited for a few moments and the feeling left. "Am I different again?"

"Yeah, but you're not acting like you were earlier."

"Hop on." Max climbed onto my back. I could feel adrenalin rushing through my body, it wasn't like earlier, but this kind of adrenalin was something I could control.

"Nikki, where are we going?"

"Just enjoy the ride, ok?"

He gave another short nod and I shot off like the wind. We were going to find our parents.
