"Hey looser, nice backpack!" I hear a shout from behind. I about to turn around and punch the guy in the face but I dont think that's something Maddie would do so I clench my fists and keep walking.
"Leave her alone!" it's a girl voice now. From what I can remember, it sounds like Abigail Jones from my science class.
"Thanks." I smile at her, remembering Jeff's comment to be nice and 'make friends'.
"That's okay! I'm Abogail, by the way. You're Maddie, right?"
"Right!" I smile.
"Do you want to eat lunch with me and my friends? I don't know if you know anyone yet?" she asks. I'm about to say no, that I'd much rather eat on my own and study. But I bite my tongue and have to agree.
I'm a spy. I do spy stuff, and I'm very good at it. But high school? No. I can't do that very well.
"So, where abouts in America do you come from?" Abigail's friend Cathy asks.
"Ohio," I answer, chewing on my pie.
"My mum lives there," says Rosie.
"So seen any guys you think are hot yet?" Abigail asks. Immediately, I think of the dimple's on they boy from my English, but I put away the thought and the butterflies die down again.
"Eh, not really." I answer instead. But I kick myself, wondering what Maddie would say.
"Oh, course! I saw you looking at Oliver in English!" Cathy says, and they all laugh. I force myself to blush, knowing that's what Maddie would do.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about," I mutter, grinning.
"You so do!" she says, but trails off, looking at something behind my shoulder. I spin around and see Oliver standing there.
"Hey, new girl. You got Geography next?" he asks, as the first bell rings.
"Uh, yeah." I say confidently.
"You want to go now?"
"Sure."
I stand up and put my tray on the little tray thing. Oo, how English.
We walk to Geography and he starts asking me questions, sounding like one of the pop quizes my dad used to give me when he tutored me. I feel tears prickle my eyes again but answer them as fast as I can.
"Where are you from?"
"Ohio."
"How old are you?"
"Fifteen."
"What's your favourite colour?"
"Bl- pink."
"Bl- pink? Didn't know that was a colour?" he grins.
"Is now," I smile back, not letting the question put me off guard.
I wonder vagualy why he's asking me all these questions. My first instinct is that he's a spy. It's usually spies who ask as much questions as they possibly can. I push the thought down quickly, I'm being ridiculous, he's just interested, nosy even. Besides, when they said the school had spies I was thinking the Sixth Form, not this year.
"So it must be kind of weird, moving here in the middle of term. How come you've come all the way from Ohio?"
"Oh, my Mum got a job here and we had to move." I reply simply. At least it's not a lie. Back when I was one, she came here to England. She never returned.
Dangerous life, being a spy. And lonely, too. I immediately want to tell this boy everything about me, but I know I can't do that with anyone. As much as I'd like to be friends with some of these people, I know we can never really be close because there's always something I will be hiding from them.

"Oliver, capital of Germany go!"
"Berlin." he says, without a moments hesitation.
I look up slightly, impressed. He knows his capitals. A few people around him snicker and one guy digs his finger into back, and he doesn't even flinch.
I narrow my eyes. Is he really that clever, or did he just get lucky? Maybe he's used to all the taunts.
After geography, it's Math, or 'Maths' as they call it here, which Oliver is also in. Good. Math is by far my favourite subject.
"So, do we do any physical stuff here like gym work or is it just classrooms?" I ask him vagualy as we walk up the stairs.
"Oh, we have PE. But it's mostly just running around and hitting a ball. Not anything like Kung Fu it's that's what you mean." he smiles. I mentally pause, wondering if he knows or has guessed anything, but his face gives nothing away.
"Oh." I say, distracted.
What does he know about me?
