Melissa Richards, a very out going and crazy girl of 17, is getting ready to graduate and move on with her life. She has everything planned and she knows exactly what she wants in life. Today is the day. the day she graduates from high school and starts a new life. Her life.

"Melissa! We're going to be late!" Pamela, her mother, yells from down the stairs. Melissa looks at herself one last time before walking down the stairs to join her mother.

"I'm ready." She says with a smile plastered on her face.

"Oh honey, I can't believe how grown up you are."

"Mom, please, not again."

"Okay, let me take a couple pictures of you first."

After about a dozen pictures are taken and a couple eye rollings, Melissa and her mother head off to the school she will be seeing for the last time.

Melissa's POV

We pull into the parking lot of the school and get out. My mother, being emotional, is attempting to fix her make-up as for most of it was washed away by her tears on the way here.

"Mom! I whine for what feels like the tenth time. "Please, they'll be starting soon!"

"I'm coming!" Mom jumps out of the car, grabs my arm and bolts towards the building. Once inside, I look around to see if I can spot anyone I know.

"Mom, go sit down. It should be starting soon. I'll see you at the dinner." I say to her and start to walk away. I can't seem to find anybody so I just keep walking along.

"Melissa!"

I turn around and see Monica, Jonathan, and Thomas. As I reach them and sit, out principal takes the stage and begins his speech.

"Hello everyone and welcome to this special day where all these lovely children will be graduating and starting their new lives."

Everyone claps and whistles. I smile.

"Now, I'm not going to bore you with a huge speech but I do have one thing to say to these graduates, and that's to never give up. No matter how hard it might be, push it. Make your dreams come true. And for god sake's, don't let anyone, and I mean anyone, tell you what you can and cannot do."

A wave of claps emerge from the standing ovation he has received.

"So, how 'bout it than. Please welcome the graduates of Aloha High 2012!"

Whoo! As the names are called, one by one, I get more excited waiting for my name to be called and be awarded with all of my achievements made.

"Melissa Richards."

Here we go! I walk up the steps onto the stage and meeting my principal.

"Congratulations Melissa. I'll need to talk to you at the dinner okay?"

What? What could he want to talk about? "Okay.", is all I can say. I wonder what he wants to talk about as I walk off and go sit back down in my seat.

"What was that about?" Thomas asks me.

"Honestly, I have no clue."

"Weird." Monica comments.

"Yeah." I am very confused on what just happened. So many things are popping up and frankly, there are more bad than good. I'm dozed out for the majority of the ceremony, clapping every few times. I finally snap when everyone stands as our principal speaks once again.

"Congratulations to the class of 2012!"

Everyone, once again, claps for the hundredth time and everybody leaves.
