A/N: I loved writing this prompt sooo much! If anyone wants any more of Damian x Mom!Reader please submit a prompt and let me know! I would love any excuse to write for these two again. FYI: Ummi and Ibni are the phonetic spellings of the possessive form of mom and son in Arabic.
Prompt: You were a part of the League of Assassins and you basically took care of Damian and treated him like a son (requested by @ wowjeena).
There are few people that you care for in your life. Even fewer that are still alive. It was a natural side effect of working for the League of Assassins. But there was one person, one child, that you held closest to your heart and that person was Damian, grandson to Ra's Al Ghul.
You were with the League long before the plot of Damian was even conceived. You were a well performing assassin but you had a growing void in your chest from the life you left behind, the family that you buried long ago. You yearned for a piece of your old life back.
You didn't realize how much you wanted it until Talia Al Ghul started her experiments of creating the perfect warrior. Damian was carried in an artificial womb and you were the one entrusted in guarding the laboratory where he was held. You watched over him as he grew and when the time came for him to come into the world you offered Talia your services as his caretaker.
She agreed saying she had "neither time or patience to care for an infant." She wanted you to be his primary caretaker until she could begin his training. She did warn you to keep any ideas out of his mind that would sabotage the warrior he will be. You were to be his caretaker and nothing more.
It was a simple task at first but as the child grew he reminded you of the child you had once upon a time. You grew to love him as if he were your own and he loved you as if you were his birth mother. Damian's first word came before his first birthday.
"Ummi!" He called pointing to you. Tears sprang to your eyes as you walked over and scooped him up into your arms. With teary eyes you pressed a kiss against his forehead.
"No Damian." You said simply. You showed him a picture of Talia and pointed to it. "Ummi." You repeated showing him Talia's picture, trying to get him to understand that you weren't actually his mother. He wasn't pleased by that instead deciding to grip your shirt and turn away from what you were showing him.
"Ummi!" He repeated putting his hands clumsily on your cheek when you put the photo down. You sighed at his determination and stubbornness. You decided to let this issue slide for now.
Eventually Damian grew to understand the situation as much as a toddler could. He learned that he couldn't call you mother while others were around but that didn't stop him from treating you like his mother when you were alone in your personal apartment with him. He loved you like no one else which aggravated Talia incessantly, believing that it would one day hinder his training as the world's fiercest warrior.
Talia took Damian away from you when she decided it was time to begin his physical training. You were heartbroken but there was nothing you could do about it. Damian was her son, after all.
Every once and awhile Damian, against Talia's wishes, would sneak off to spend time with you when he was finished with his training for the day. Sometimes he would talk with you about his progress and how he wanted to make Talia proud and other times the two of you would bake or cook together. You enjoyed whatever time you could afford with Damian. One night while you were spending time with Damian he asked you about his father.
"Ummi, who is my father?" He keeping his trained away from you. "Mother won't tell me anything."
"I do not know, Damian. Even if I did, your mother wouldn't allow me to say. It's all a part of her plan for you. I'm sorry, Ibni." You say placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. He looked back at you with wide sad eyes.
