Chapter 1 The Meeting Place

Today would be my first day of school here in Little Rock, Arkansas. I just moved here From Athens, Louisiana, which was a small little town. Things were going okay so far this morning, My alarm went off and I then proceeded to get dressed and after that find some breakfast that would fulfill my horrendous appetite that I had this morning. I couldn’t stop thinking about what my new school would be like and such, I couldn’t help to ponder If i would get along with all the other students at Lincoln Nelson High or if i would be one of the outcasts with no friends, considering that I would be new there. While I was thinking my mother came down stairs and poured herself a hot cup of coffee and sat down in the chair that was next to me. she asked “Skylar are you ready for your new fresh start here in Little Rock?” I nodded but didn’t say anything else, and to my mother that meant that I didn’t want to be bothered at the moment. It was hard to not think about what could have happen to me if we still had the money, We could have still been living in Athens and I could’ve still had my modeling job. But that didn’t matter anymore because I was in a new town and this would be a new start for me. I took a bite of my piece of toast and glanced over at the time and almost jumped when I saw it. I grabbed my Backpack and told my mother that I was leaving and grabbed my car keys and headed out the door into the chilly morning air. I got into my old 1970 Mustang and headed towards town where Lincoln Nelson High was stationed. When I got there I found a spot and pulled into it and shut off the engine and sat there looking around, watching all the students whiz past me, hurrying to get to class. I open my car’s rickety old door and grabbed my backpack and slammed the door closed and headed for the front door of the school. I opened it and walked to my locker and grabbed my books, before I closed it I peered over and next to me was the most handsomest guy I have ever seen. He had Black shaggy hair that was hiding part of his face, His light blue eyes radiant against his pale skin, and his skinny frame, holding his muscles which were seeping through his blue plaid shirt. I blushed a bit and and grabbed my backpack and walk past him and said hello. He smiled and nodded and then walked away. I decided to find my first class so I walked up the staircase to find room 276.
Chapter 2 Best Friends, But Hidden Tragedies
*2 Months Pass*
It was 2 months since my first day of school. I even made a friend, in fact He’s my best friend. I was walking to our usual meeting place which was the city park that was across from the high school. There was always this tree me and him would always sit by and talk about life and such, so I walked over and sat next to him and put my head on his shoulder. He smiles and rubbed my face and said “ Hey Sky how are you?” I smiled and nodded saying “Good I’ve been busy because my mothers Birthday is next week”. He smiled and went back to looking down at the ground. He then looked up and said “Sky...I have something to tell you that I’ve never told anyone else about before.” I look over at him and said “Sure you can trust me I promise I won’t tell anyone what is it?” He looked over with a sad expression on his face and looked deeply into my eyes. He then pulled up his sleeve and there by his wrist laid a huge dark bruise in a shape of a hand print. I looked at him and flung my arms around him and hugged him tightly. he looked at me with tears streaming down his face and said “Sky...my mother abuses me, she yells at me and if I don’t do anything wrong she hits me till I bleed. That’s why my lip was bleeding this morning.” I turned and wiped his tears from his face and hug him. “I’m so sorry Leon...If you ever need anything you know I’m always here for you! Do you understand? I’m here for you no matter what!” Leon smiled and hugged me wrapping his arms around me and said “Thanks sky I appreciate it.”
Chapter 3 Love has a way of slipping away and Disappearing
The next day I got to school and Leon wasn’t there. I figured he was sick at home because he had a cough the day before. By the time it was Lunch I started getting worried so I sat down at Leon’s and mine table and Pulled out my phone. I had one new message and it was from Leon, so I opened it and everything around me stopped, my heart even skipped a beat, The message read GOODBYE in all caps. My heart sank deep into my chest, my mouth dropped open, and I felt the tears start to bubble in my eyes. I flung my phone into my backpack and ran towards the front entrance of the school. One of the jocks grabbed my arm, just before I touched the golden handle to the door. He asked “where you going in such a hurry pretty girl?” He touched a piece of my hair that was in my face and I flinched. “Aw I don’t want to hurt you, I just want to have a little fun.” he said in a creepy tone. Thats when without thinking of the consequences I launched my fist into his nose. He fell to the ground with blood dripping from his face. “You Fucking Bitch!” he said in a filthy tone. I grinned at him and grabbed the door and ran out into the cool fall afternoon heading toward the park where me and Leon usually met, thinking there would be a good place to look for him. When I got there I ran to the Maple tree where him and me carved our initials in, the spot where we always stopped and talked. I ran to the other side of the tree and thats when I noticed it. I found Leon laying next to the tree with his eyes closed. I figured he was pretending to sleep so I sat down next to him and shook him, when he didn’t open his eyes thats when I new that I just lost my best friend. I sat there crying when I noticed a note on his stomach. It read,
Dear Sky I knew you would be the first to find me here. Do you remember all those times we used to come her and just talk for hours? I do, and I will forever keep those memories in my mind and in my heart, I hope you will too. I’m sorry you had to find me like this.. you must be heart broken and I’m truly sorry for that. I am in a better place then I was. Even though I had you, I couldn’t deal with the remarks people said about me, just because of the way I looked and the way I dressed. I also couldn’t take it because of the sick way my mother treated me.. I just couldn’t handle it anymore Sky.. I just couldn’t. I know you were my only friend, and I thank you for not judging me the way everyone else did, But no one will ever judge me again because I’m in a better place where there is no pain or agony. I want to say one last thing that means a lot to me. I want you to know that I loved you Sky, So much and I wish I could be there right now to comfort you. Goodbye Sky, You will forever remain in my heart. And don’t forget I’m always watching you and guiding you I Love you Skylar Marie Gunther, forever and always.

Thats when I collapsed to my knees put my head on him with tears streaming down my face. I grabbed the note and kissed it and put it close to me heart and closed my eyes.
