The rest of the night was a blur for Jacq. She had watched her mother get arrested. Court would be held on August 7th, nearly a month from now. She looked up and sang. "Dont get too close, it's dark inside. It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide. I can't drown them, they learned to swim. It's when're my demons hide, it's where my demons hide..." She wept for the rest of the night, holding tight the wadded up peice of paper that had the friendly- woman's number on it. Jacqueline knew very well want was ahead, she went through the same thing with her father, only instead the charge was neglect.
Jacq had skipped her first day of school because of the incident, and was placed into temporary custody. She slept in a concrete orphanage, even though she was 12 and the orphanage was for 5-9 year olds. She couldn't wait for her school tommorrow to escape her home life.
When Jacq had awoken next morning, she had rushed over to the window to read the clock across the street. "6:45" it read. She was late. She didn't care. She slowly got dressed and brushed her thin, long hair. She walked out the door and began walking to school.
"JACQUE!" She heard. She was confused, yet excited at the same time, as only Sarah called her that. She whizzed around and saw Sarah running towards her at full speed. She jumped forwards and there embrace was held for a glorious moment, filled with love and sadness.
"My mom says you can stay at my house!" And they both screeched. Unaware of what there was to talk about, Sarah grabbed Jacqueline's hand and Jacq looked up. She had immediately let go and looked around, dazed. She just saw, no imagined, no saw, she- she saw something new to her. Color? No she could see that, or at least she thought. Everything immediately popped at her, with such vibrancy and finesse it was like a fireworks show. She was speechless. "Did you see that too?" She murmured.
