The next day he didn't acknowledge me, he didn't say anything about the kiss.
He treated what happened as if it was nothing and as if it didn't matter at all to him.
I wouldn't let it get to me, if this is how he wanted it, then I would just have to accept it and move on from what happened.
I won't give up on him though when I know that deep down there is still a chance for us to spark, but I won't push it, I'll just wait for the Holy beings above to work their magic.
Love shouldn't be forced, it takes time and patience.
I was on my way to the cafeteria, and being in a rather playful mood I ran towards Mark and jumped on his back.
Thankfully after stumbling for a few seconds Mark adjusted to the added weight and didn't fall. "You're so heavy" he groaned.
I slapped his arm and waited for him to let go of my legs so that I could get off. He didn't, instead he ran around the cafeteria. I grinned at the people we lapped by and randomly yelled "PIGGY BACK RIDEEEE!!!"
Mark came to a full stop at our usual table and started panting, out of breath.
He let go of me and I slipped off of him "you done well pardner, you done well" I told him breathlessly in what I hoped was a cowboy accent. I clapped him on the back then sat down and started to eat as if nothing happened, ignoring the stares Daisy, Ysa and Mark gave me.
"So, how's life?" Mark asked as he plopped himself down the empty seat beside me. "Weird with the both of you around" Ysa muttered.
"Yeah!" Mark and I exclaimed and High fived. "Idiots" I heard Ysa mumble, trying to hide her grin.
"The both of you would make such a cute couple" I heard a voice behind us remarked. I turned and there stood Lilly.
"Me? And Mark? Yeah, sure totally" I said and faked a laugh. I didn't want my friends to see how tense I was with Lilly in front of me.
"So this is the group you're hanging out with now?" Lilly asked, directing the question at Ysa. Ysa gave me a hesitant glance, then nodded slowly.
"What's wrong with this group?" Daisy asked defensively, glaring at Lilly.
"Nothing, just... I can't imagine why you would leave your best friend for...them" Lilly said airily, nudging her head at my direction.
"You know why" Ysa said softly, avoiding Lilly's eyes.
"Oliver was obviously unhappy in their relationship, I was just helping him out!" Lilly defended herself. I really did not want to get into another discussion of my stupid past so I stood up and walked away from my table.
"Yes, of course, ladies and gentlemen there she goes again running away from her problems. Jennifer Shire everybody!" Lilly called out mockingly.
Suddenly the chattering in the cafeteria ceased and the spotlight was on me. There was a dead audience and students were watching me from where they were seated.
This is not a freaking movie stop watching! I thought to myself. I clenched my fists in anger and turned around to face her.
There were worried looks on my friends faces but I had little to do to reassure them that I wasn't going to do anything rash and stupid.
I walked up to Lilly until there was only an arms length of space between us. I could literally feel everyone watching us with bated breaths as if this were a story that was about to hit its climax.
I raised my hand as if to slap her, but then I crossed my arms instead.
"What happened to us?" I asked her softly. Without waiting for her answer, I walked out of the room knowing that Mark would soon follow after me to comfort me.
Knowing that I had real friends who cared about me and actually loved me.
OK so this isn't what I planned, my other chapter was WAY different but it's gone now so there's nothing that I can do about it. I cry...
