"This letter is for me?" I said in a hushed voice. I was standing in the middle of my yard in nothing but my pjs. My confusion quickly turned to frustration and anger as I surveyed the area.
"Alright!" I yelled not caring if I woke the neighbors or even my mom at this point. "I want answers and I want them now! Is this some sort of elaborate prank? Well whoever you are, knock it off because I will find you! You here?" I had to take a deep breath to calm myself down. There was no one that at all. It was only me. In an attempt to relax I laid down in the grass and gazed up at the sky. It was a beautiful night. The moon was full and high in the sky. The darkness was dotted with millions of shining stars. I had always loved looking at the stars, even as a really little kid. I would bring a blanket out and lay in the yard for hours on end basking in the beauty of space. I used to tell my mom that one day I would build a rocket and see every star in the universe. She just laughed softly and told me that she didn't doubt me. As I got older I learned that my dream was impossible. I sighed. I hadn't done this in a while and I forgot how much I missed it. Instantly I was at peace. The grass was cold and slightly damp but I didn't mind. Suddenly I remembered the letter I still had grasped in my hand. I looked it over once more before I decided to open it. I began to rip the top part open to see a folded up note inside. Naturally I unfolded it and quickly scanned over it with my eyes. It looked hand written so if this was a prank this person paid very good attention to detail. I sighed and began to read it almost out loud.
Dear Brooklyn,
If I landed in the right time, then you should be reading this letter at approximately 12:05 am on October 31st.
I paused and looked at my phone in astonishment. It was exactly 12:05. How is that even possible? Now I was intrigued. I tucked my phone away and continued reading.
I know you're probably very confused about everything that has been happening in the past couple days. I can assure you that you aren't going mad. This is all truly happening. Don't worry though. You'll be getting answers very soon. I promise. I'm so sorry that this has been so confusing but it will all become clear sooner than you may think. Oh and remember what I told you, Don't blink. Good luck Brooklyn. See you very soon.
From your old friend
I wasn't quite sure what to make of the note. I was happy to hear that I would be getting an explanation and by now I was sure it wasn't a prank. I held the letter up over my head. The light from the moon shone through the paper and something caught my eye. There was a bit more on the back. I flipped it over to see what it said.
PS. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry about your mother.
The letter dropped from my hands and my heart rate increased drastically. What does that mean? is something going to happen to my mom? Or had something already happened? Immediately I jumped to my feet and sprinted into the house. I burst into my mother's room but she was gone. She was no where in sight. The only thing in the bedroom aside from me, was a stone statue of an angel.
