Ciel wasn’t sure what this feeling was. It was a constant tugging at his heart, and fluttering in his stomach. He cast the feeling off as some sickness. Perhaps he’d caught it while visiting the Undertaker The feeling was more prominent while he wandered the garden. The smell of flowers causing his heart to dance up his throat. Maybe he was allergic to something in the garden, it would explain many things such as why his chest began aching, and he felt uncomfortable in strange places, in ways that he wasn’t used to whenever Finny walked by and Ciel smelled the flowers and dirt on his clothing.
Ciel decided to tell Sebastian about these feelings, maybe Sebastian had some sort of medicine that Ciel could take in order to rid himself of this illness. But Sebastian only gave Ciel a small, sweet smile, and told him not to worry about it, and that it was only natural for a boy of his age to become ill like this. The lack of knowledge about what was happening to his body, which others seemed to understand already was exceedingly frustrating for the boy, and he wasn’t going to stand for this.
Ciel stepped out into the garden where Finny was busy working. He couldn’t see the gardener, just the rustling of leaves behind a tall bush where he assumed that the boy was pulling out weeds of some sort. Ciel didn’t feel particularly strange at the time, so he found a nice patch of flowers and sat down, slowly leaning his body back so he was laying comfortably in the rows of flowers; soft grass thickly surrounding him, cooling him down while the sun’s warmth spread along his body. Soft chirping echoed from all angles into his ears, and he relaxed, in the unknowing, comforting company of his gardener.
His eyes closed slowly. Dim orange light showed through his eyelids, as he focused on the feeling of the grass brushing over his skin. He could hear clumsy footsteps making their way towards him, and branches and leaves crunching beneath his gardeners feet; so he closed his eyes tighter, not wanting Finny to interrupt the moment. He heard the boy sit down, about a foot away from him, so he opened one of his eyes reluctantly. It was bright so he shielded his eyes from the sun with his hand and he could see the light nearly reflecting off Finny’s large smile. He was sitting crossed legged in the grass. His long eyelashes casted shadows across his pale, blushing cheeks His eyes were bright and happy, and Ciel stared into them, noticing that they resembled a starless evening sky. His blonde hair looked like it belonged on an angel, as it shined in the sunlight. He’s beautiful, Ciel thought to himself and suddenly froze. What on earth was he thinking. This was his servant. His male, idiotic servant to be more specific. Maybe Ciel had been in the sun for too long, and wasn’t thinking clearly. His mind was telling him that he should get away but his body wouldn’t let him and Finny’s sweet voice asking him what he was doing, grounded him to the spot even more securely.
“I just came to admire the garden, that’s all” Ciel told him, softly. Finny’s voice continued to melt away Ciel’s heart through this pointless conversation, as Finny talked about every insignificant detail of his morning so far. His heart felt like it was being pulled apart once again, but not so much that it broke, just enough to cause a dull aching feeling that spread from his chest to his stomach. He unwillingly reached out to Finny, not knowing what he was doing but once it was done he didn’t want to simply take it back, so when Finny looked at his extended hand confused he told him “Take my hand and come lay here with me”
Finny took Ciel’s hand, slowly and uncertainly. His fingers were soft and thin, and gripped the other boy’s gently. Ciel pulled him down next to him and they laid in silence, the sounds around them were enough to fill the void without words, including Finny’s soft humming that seemed to be in tune with the subtle chirping. Every part of Ciel was telling him to get closer, but he resisted and stayed where he was, glad that neither of them had let go of the others hand. The feel of Finny’s warm skin gave him the confidence to speak. He didn’t know why he would say these things to the boy, but somehow it felt natural, like he was talking to himself.
“Whenever I am around you, I feel different. Like my revenge and anger are worthless and a waste of time. I feel that the only time I’m doing something that’s worth anything is when I am around you. An important man like me shouldn’t be in these situations, I have much more pressing matters to deal with.”
“Sounds like how I felt about that bird I used to have, my lord. I suppose they’d call that love but I wouldn’t dare think you loved me, young master.”
“Do you love me, Finny?”
“M-master I can’t say something like tha--”
“Finny. Do you love me?”
“I do love you, master. I truly care about you”
“Finny, I think I love you too.” Ciel replied softly. “Would it be bad if I asked you to come closer?”
“Not at all, sir.” Finny said, scooting closer so that their shoulders were pressed against each other, and their legs were lightly touching. Ciel reached over slowly to run his fingers through Finny’s soft hair. He smirked slightly.
“Were you always this breathtaking?”
Finny blushed and wrapped his arms around Ciel’s small body. He pulled him up so that he was laying on top of Finny. Ciel looked at him, slightly shocked and Finny smiled nervously, their noses nearly touching.
“I didn’t think it was right of a Phantomhive servant to let my lord lay on the ground, so you can lay on me instead.”
Ciel nodded in agreement and licked his dry lips. They were painfully close. It would be so simple for Ciel to just lean in and kiss him. They continued to lay their in silence, feeling the movement of the others chest pressing against their own, and the slightly quickening breath of the other against their lips. Ciel closed his eyes as he leaned in closer, they were so close that Ciel could practically taste the breath of the other boy. He couldn’t hold himself back any longer and he leaned closer, letting his lips brush gently over Finny’s. Their slightly parted lips lingered softly over each other just barely touching. Finny pressed his lips up against Ciel’s small, soft mouth and wrapped his arms tightly around his waist. They stayed there, unmoving for a few moments just wanting the kiss to stay like this forever. Ciel ran is warm tongue lightly over Finny’s bottom lip, smiling at the sweet taste of the boy. They continued moving their lips against each other, their tongues lightly touching every once in awhile. The hours flew by as they kissed each other, and the rest of the world felt nonexistent. The only thing Ciel could feel was Finny’s body pressed against his own.
The sunlight began to fade away too quickly and a cold breeze blew over them. Ciel shivered and Finny held him closer.
“We’ve been out here awhile” he said with a laugh. His lips were pink and maybe even a bit swollen from kissing Ciel all day.
“W-we have” Ciel stuttered and cringed at his own voice. He buried himself closer into Finny’s arms. “I want us to stay this way forever, master. I want to work for you and be there for you forever”
“And you will. I will never leave you.”
“Really?”
“Honestly”
Finny closed his eyes and played with Ciels hair sleepily, resting his head back in the grass. Ciel closed his eyes as well, laying his head on Finny’s chest as they drifted off, awaiting the warm sunlights return.
