I closed the locker with a bang and leaned my forehead against it with an angry sigh. It was the last day of school, and my last day at any school in the United States actually. My parents decided I need to go to some fancy boarding school somewhere in Europe.

I glanced around the hall. A teacher walking quickly down the hall after some student throwing water balloons at random unfortunate students. Friends huddled close together talking about getting together over the summer. I caught glimpse of a bright flash of black hair before something barreled full-speed into my torso. I glanced down with a half-smile on my face at my best friend, June. Me and June had been friends since the first day of sixth-grade when I saved her from 'The Evils'.

The Evils were actually a group of the upper-class preppy girls at our school. They had been making fun of her hair, which at the time had been a fiery red color. I had stood in between her and the girls and stood my ground until they had walked away, flipping their dyed blonde hair over their small shoulders.

We had been inseparable since that day.

She looked up at me with tears in her blue eyes, “I don't want you to leave.” She said sadly.

“I know, I don't want to leave either. But my parents don't care what I want.” I frowned.

“Can I come over tonight?” She said hopefully.

I reached in my back pocket and pulled my phone out to dial the number. It rang three times before my mothers cheery voice answered. “Hey mom, can June stay the night?”

“I don't know dear, we are leaving tomorrow and you aren't packed...”

Getting desperate I said,” But mom I might never see her again and-”

“Oh, alright.” My mother said giving in before I could really put into her.

I gave June a thumbs up and she started bouncing around the hall, receiving strange looks from a nearby group of students.

After a quick good-bye I hung up the phone and glanced around the hall. Coming straight at me was Mathew Jacobson with a determined look on his face. He briefly gave June a look before looking into my eyes and saying, “Do you want to hang out sometime this summer?”

I looked at him like he was crazy. First of all the running-back of the varsity team did not ever even think of consorting with people like ME, the outsiders. Secondly, everyone in the school knew I was leaving tomorrow.

“I'm moving to Europe....Tomorrow...” I admitted with an apologetic look on my face.

He smirked, making me blush, “ I know that Isabel, I am too. I thought you might want to go to a quidditch match with me? The World Cup?”

I raised an eyebrow at him and say, “What the heck is that? Some European sport?”

It was his turn to give the crazy look, “Um, no...You're parents haven't told you where we are going yet?”

By now I was incredibly confused so I said “I have to go but I'll give you my number?”

He handed me his phone silently with a contemplating look on his face. I dialed in my number and called it so I had his.

As I handed it back June came over bouncing and ignoring Mathew said, “when are we going, or are we going to spend the night here?”

I laughed, “Of course, didn't I tell you?” I joked.

A fake horrified look came over her face. And then we both busted out laughing, Mathew laughing along with us. I could tell that he actually found it funny, and wasn't just pretending like my mom or dad would have. I waved at him slightly as June picked up both of our backpacks and dragged me down the hall. He returned the wave smiling crookedly.
