I could hear the light patting of the rain on my bedroom window. I sighed as I tried to find the will to push myself out of the warmth of my bed. After a few moments more I decided to push back the covers and start to get ready for the day ahead. I straightened my naturally curly hair and put on my black skinny jeans with a plain white shirt and my favourite hoodie. My hand unconsciously went to my left wrist to stroke the scar there. I took one last glance in the mirror and sighed deeply, grabbed my bag and headed down for breakfast in the dining room of Dovermans Children's Home.
I stared out of the window as 7 other children gathered around the table.
"Hey freak!" I heard the pitchy voice of Naveh Mills from behind me.
"Your in my seat
"Really? If apologise but I don't really care." I replied with it looking up.
"You should. I can make you very unpopular at school."
I rolled my eyes. Like she could make me any less popular than I already was.
" why'd you care where you sit anyway? Aren't that rich couple coming to adopt you this weekend?" I asked.
"Oh! I get it. Your jealous. Understandable. I am about to be adopted by a perfect family and I have only been here 5 years. You have been here your whole life and nobody wants you. I mean can you blame them. I mean they probably think that you will turn into your parents and go all phyco AWOL on them." She said, flipping her hair over her shoulder. I slammed my fist into the table and stood up. My parents. That was a sore spot for me. I have been in care my whole life and there are no records of my parents, or even my birth, and in a small town, rounders are spread.
"Shut up! You know nothing about my parents!" I shouted.
"Yeah! And neither do you! Not even to your own moth-"
I didn't let her finish. I had her pinned against the wall by her neck with my arm. She let out a choked gasp and Mrs. Humpfrey, our social worker, walked into the kitchen.
"Cassidy-Hope!" She screeched, " let her go this instant or you will be sent to the isolation room!" With a sigh I did as I was told.
"Fine, I have to leave for school now anyway." I muttered grabbing my bag off the hook and slammed the door behind me as I went from one hell to another.
