He was always the optimistic type, he always kept a careless smile on his face in order to flush the negative feelings out. Even while alone, he would still keep a good attitude. Who wants to spend their life being upset? Not to mention he had a relationship to maintain, even if he didn't expect it to end so soon. So.. fast
"Why must you be so arrogant and- annoying! All you ever do is make me mad, mess with me, irritate me! You toy with girls, you leave unexpectedly, you never inform me of anything! Does this 'relationship' mean a thing to you?!" Lyall hadn't been this upset since the day they met, his entire body was tense. You could see the glimmer in those dark purple orbs of his, as if the void itself was within them.
"Lyall, of course it does, how could you say something so rash?" Rin's smirk appeared out of habit, he couldn't help but think of it as another small quarrel they have again and again.
The mage let his tension go, his head slanted down enough to where his hood would cover his eyes. He couldn't manage to find words to express the amount of emotions constantly swirling through his head. He gave up. "I see.. I should've known not to trust a petty thief off the streets.."
Before he paced off, he looked up, a painful smile on his face as tears slowly trailed down his cheeks.
Rin stood in silence in the middle of the cobblestone road that they would walk down nightly, all to see the stars. A sudden change in surroundings caught his eye, small droplets of water slowly fell fast and faster, breaking the silence he was once in. They always tell you, you never know you love something until you lose it.. He never gave that saying much thought. He never realized how much it could mean.
Moments after the rain had fell, his ears were filled with the sounds of guards, metal suits moving hastily, "There he is! Get him!" Rin took a couple steps forward, his instinct to run was begging him to run. Before he realized what was happening, it was to late. His head hit the cold, wet floor his vision getting a bit blurry. His arms were forced back and he was jerked to his feet before he felt metal shackles bind his wrists tightly.
He's finally lost.
Lyall wiped away heated tears, he found them pathetic, annoying. He couldn't take his mind off of the thief. His soft white locks, his ice blue eyes, his freckles. Before he knew it, he was flipping through a thick spellbook. Page after page until he was caught on one page, the one where he kept the white rose given to him by Rin.
"Tch." Lyall clenched his fist. He refused to believe he needed the man, he didn't want him around.
The rain began to fall even harder, thunder and lightning clashing as if they were at war. Rin thrashed around, refusing to give in to the guards grips. One of the guard went for his sword, giving the thief a short second to pull away from them. He stumbled forward and ran, ran as fast as he could go in the pouring rain. Straight towards the familiar warm house. His shoulder slammed into the wooden door, he tried to catch his breath before yelling out,
"Lyall!-" His voice was cut off quickly as guards grabbed hold of him. Rin thrashed around once again, giving a pained yelp.
The mage was startled by the sudden slam on his door, he froze up one his name was called. He could recognize the strong voice anywhere. It didn't phase him as much as it would've until he caught the yelp. His heart raced as he quickly made his way down the creaky wooden stairs. He quickly swung the door open, the rain quickly soaked the carpet at the door along with his clothes, papers flew, the candles burned out.
Lyall's purple orbs began to give off a dim glow, he was angry. He quickly lifted his hands, a portal from the void quickly forming beneath Rin, he was then restationed next to the mage. He was breathing heavily. It happened so quickly. Rin became dizzy as he watched his surroundings, Lyall using his void magic to hold off guards, knocking them down one by one.
Lyall's concentration was solely on the guards, knocking them down one by one like dominoes, it's as if the glow in his eyes became stronger the longer he stayed in that state. He continued, more and more guards showing up. He felt powerful, all up until he caught an arrow in his sights. This shouldn't have bothered him, but the arrow wasn't flying towards him.
It flew towards Rin.
Within the second of broken concentration, the void magic malfunctioned, the purple waves of magical essence all combined together, creating a large explosion. It was over.
~
The rain had turned to a steady sprinkle. Lyall coughed, he had swallowed a bit of dust after the catastrophe. The mage sat up slowly, wincing in pain. His mind had gone blank before the face of the thief filled the empty space.
"Rin!" Lyall sprung from the rubble, ignoring the sharp pains in his side, he ran to Rin, quickly tossing off rocks and wiping off dust. It was only a second before he noticed the blood, the small red puddle under the Thief only grew slowly. Without thought, Lyall put his hand on the arrow, quickly transferring it out of the thief's chest and somewhere into the depths of the void.
"Wake up.. Please wake up!" His voice cracked a bit, his lip quivering. "You said you'd be there for me, you said you'd keep me happy, you wouldn't let me lose another.. love.." Lyall gripped the strong arm, pressing his forehead to Rin's chest, weeping quietly. All that was heard was the slow rainfall and the small whimpers of a grieved mage, no guards, no magic, nothing.
He felt a warm touch upon his head and a rough cough, his body tensed up greatly. Slowly, he looked up, Rin's ice blue orbs locking with his.
"I prefer a man with a smile on his face." He said softly, giving another harsh cough.
Lyall almost choked on his tears as he began to smile widely, quickly leaning forward, his lips colliding with Rin's.
The thief's eyes widened, caught off guard once again by the mage, he slowly sunk into the kiss, his fingers entangled in his hair.
As the kiss was broken, Rin lifted his arm weakly to wipe away the tears of his loves face.
"I meant it when I said all of that.. Don't forget it. I love you, Lyall."
Lyall nodded, more tears falling. "I-I love you too."
