CHAPTER 1
Was this how death felt like?
I felt as I was endlessly falling into complete nothingness. I reached out my hand in front of me and then took it back again. I couldn't feel anything though all my cuts and wounds were still there from before I died...
Then I felt my back touch a stone, cold floor as I slowly opened my eyes, I stood up, more easily than I though I could. I looked around.
Where was this?
Everything looked just like a normal old town in the night with street lamps that were surprisingly dim. A teenage boy ran out of a small house with a wooden bucket to the well that was in the center of the town. Suddenly I realized something. I lifted my arm up and I knew I was right. My injuries were all gone.
I was dead... everyone alive used to always say there were were towns of the dead, i didn't believe them, but now I know I was wrong. Here I was in the town. I died.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My new life, I spent time with the teenage boy who went the well when I first came. I always stared up in the sky thinking about my family, alive, I wanted to go back, but that was impossible... or I thought.
The tower was my only chance to go back. Only the chosen few people will get to try and pass the tower's 100 floors and reach the top. The first person to the top of the tower will be able to return to life. I don't know how long I had spent in this town but the time had come.
I was chosen along with the teenage boy and another few million people to go to the tower. I was determined to go back. The higher up the tower, the harder the floors were going to be. As I thought about the tower, questions followed. Do the dead feel pain?
"Ivy... hurry, it's gonna start soon," Rem called over his shoulders as he stood on the path to the tower with his hands in his pockets.
"Sorry, I'm coming," I ran to join him as i glanced up at the tower. I took a deep breath and smiled. "Ready?"
"Probably more than you are." I let out a short laugh and shrugged as he pushed the tower door open. A heap of people were already here. The door slammed shut shortly after Rem and I walked in as the clock struck 5. The tower's challenges had officially begun.
"Welcome contestants... I assume you all know what the tower is right?" A man's voice went through a loud speak.
"Yes!" The crowd of people shouted back.
"Okay! Good! I will go straight into the first floor's challenge then... Simply... just make a team of four within a minute." The challenge startled everyone.
"What! Get into a group with these puny chickens? Never!" A muscular man shouted back at the speakers. The voice didn't reply.
I quickly gathered together with Rem and found two other people to team up with.
"Please sit down when you have your team." The voice again. After a while the voice spoke. "Now..that's time up... so everyone who isn't in a group will be disqualified, those who aren't willing to team up with others and think they are more superior than others are not qualified!" As the voice finished, the people standing up immediately vanished in a spark of light.
"Now for floor 2, everyone will be teleported to a plain field and when you kill 3 people you will then be teleported to floor 3. If you kill any of your team mates, you can... say bye. Those who are killed, don't worry, you will be sent back to the towns."
I felt a gush of wind as a plain field appeared in front of me. My hands reached behind me as I pulled out two blades from their sheaths that were tied tightly on my back. I looked at the surroundings, nothing much, just hills, caves and... grass as some sort of a samurai looking kid charged at me.
