Ariana

The Hufflepuff table was buzzing with noise, as always, but it all seemed so distant. A Saturday morning, everyone was dead to the world. Except us. Finally, I decided to go say hi to someone new. Maybe make a new friend.

I walked over to the Slytherin table and smiled at a girl in my year who was still in her pj's. There was an empty seat beside her, so I took it.

Elizabeth (Liz)

I looked over at the Hufflepuff in the yellow sun dress and took in her appearance. She was a stark contrast to me, with her shoulder length honey blonde hair and bright green eyes. She was short, probably not even five feet tall. On the other hand, I had dark brown, nearly black, hair and navy blue eyes. I was about 5'5 and, well, I'm not exactly the most friendly or welcoming person.

"Good morning. I'm Ariana. It's nice to meet you. What's your name?" she asked. The majority of the Great Hall was staring at us, so I decided to play it cool rather than ask her 20 questions right then and there.

"My names Elizabeth, but I go by Liz." I replied.

"Oh, yeah! I know you! We have some of our classes together!" she beamed.

"Cool." I said in a bored tone. Maybe she would get the hint and go away.

"Hey, do you like Doctor Who?" she asked way to excitedly as she gestured to my pajama bottoms, which were decorated with small TARDISes. (A/N: not quite sure of the plural for TARDIS)

"No, I'm just wearing Doctor Who pj's because I hate the show, " I said in a sarcastic tone, "Of course I like the show."

"Me too! Which Doctor is your favorite out of the newer ones?" she questioned.

"I like nine. He was hilarious." I replied, smiling a bit.

"For me, nine is a close second to ten. I like his spunk." she stated.

"Ah. I like his episode Girl in the Fireplace." was my response.

"Oh my gosh yes!" she seemed a bit too overwhelmingly excited as she replied. I looked over a Mackenzie, one of my dorm mates, with a questioning look. She just shrugged.

"So... Why are you here? Like, at the Slytherin table. You realize that you stand out big time, right?" I finally asked.

"Yes, I realize that. But I realized that if you spend all of your time with the same kind of people (especially if you are like those people) then you will never grow as a person, " then she lowered her voice so that only I could hear, "Also, my table is way to chattery in the morning. It's almost frightening how chipper everyone is. Sometimes, you just need everyone to shut up and let you be dead to the world." she gave me a half-hearted smile, and I smiled back.

"Okay. You can stick with me. On one condition: you put on something... darker. I can't keep going blind by looking at you." I joke, and she grins. She them turns abs begins to eat, and everyone turns away as they realize I'm not going to do anything about this. She's actually a pretty nice person, and I wouldn't mind having her as a friend.
