Chapter Two

Oli

Oli walks into the school, his friend Ricky West walking with him. Ricky was a wider receiver for the school football team, and he and Oli were one hell of a team. Ricky was tall and athletic, and a very cocky person. He made Oli look nice sometimes, with his flirtation towards anything that moved, and his inappropriate comments. "Hey baby," Ricky says to a passing freshman. Oli rolls his eyes, "Keep it in your pants bro she's like 14." Ricky chuckles. Oli sees Chris and the group and walks over with Ricky, asking "Hey guys you know Ricky right?" "Yeah I've heard of him. Not all good things," comments Rosie. "Oh yeah?" he says, giving her a smile. Jasper gives Ricky a dirty look as Chris says "We should get going to class, my step-dad will give us shit if we're late" Chris, Oli, Jasper, and Sarah walk to history, leaving Ricky and Rosie.

Amy

Amy is walking to history when she sees Mike and Hannah again. She calls after them, "Hey guys!" Mike turns around, and smiles at her "Hey, you're in our history class right?" Amy nods and then smiles at Hannah. They walk to class. Mr. Murphy starts off the class by commenting on the murder two nights ago, "I know some of you were close with Wendy Baker. My condolences go to her family and friends. I know you kids might be distracted, so I'm handing out group work today. Get into groups of four, please. Once you're finished, you may do whatever, but please keep the volume down."

Amy smiles at Hannah and Mike. Amy turns around, looking for a fourth member of the group. She sees a blonde girl in the back of the class that she's never seen before. Amy walks back to her. "Hi I'm Amy, do you want to work with my group?" she asked. The girl smiles "Hey my name's Ashley, but everyone back home called me Ash" Amy sits next to her, and waves for Hannah and Mike to come over. "Where are you from Ash?" asks Amy. Ash looks down "I moved here from Toronto. My dad was killed a few weeks ago in a shooting, I'm staying with my aunt now..." Amy and Hannah share a glance "I'm so sorry" Hannah said. Ash looked up smiling. "It's okay, so what's the assignment today?" she says, changing the subject. "World war two and the weapons introduced by this war," Mike says with a sigh. Hannah looks around the group and says, "Let's get to work."

Mike

Mike grabbed the assignment and walked up to Mr. Murphy. "Here you go sir," he said. Mike went to go sit down with Hannah. He noticed Amy and Ash had gone to go sit with Chris and his friends. Mike sighs. Chris and he had unspoken issues. Mike starts to think about his dad, and the thought of him dead at the carnival. Mike was only two at the time and had no memories of his father, but his mother always spoke like she knew another part of him, till the day she died. Mike's mother died from cancer last year, and he now lived with his step-dad. Duncan, his father, was also known as "The Butcher of Whitewood". Mike gives himself a shake and comes back to reality. Amy looks at the two of them and beckons for them to come over. Mike looks at Hannah, who shrugs, and the two walk to join Amy, Chris, and the others. Mike looks down when Chris looks up at him. Chris looks away and talks to Sarah. "Hey, what are you guys talking about?" asks Hannah, pulling up two chairs. Mike sits down. Amy replies, "We were actually talking about Wendy. Oli here..." she says, rolling her eyes "thinks Wendy was the beginning of a serial killer in Whitewood." Oli chimes in "Well, considering this is Redwood I wouldn't be surprised." "That was fifteen years ago. And the Butcher is dead," Chris says, turning back into the conversation. He and Mike share a glance, Mike looks down.

"Well if this is a serial killer, then Wendy was just the beginning. What if we have an actual slasher movie killer, copying the butcher?" says Amy. "We have to think about what the rules are in slasher movies." Oli laughs, and then asks "What are those rules exactly?" "Well right off the bat, if you have sex, drink or do drugs, you put yourself at risk," Amy says. Oli laughs again. "Fuck me I guess," he says. "Yeah you wouldn't live long buddy," Jasper says before laughing. Amy chuckled. "Anyways, there are more rules." Amy crosses her arms. "Never say you'll be right back. Always answer the phone. And never look behind you when running away." Mike looks up, "There's something else," he says.
