"Through The Words" A Conversation in a Poem

"Hello"

You greeted me.

But I wasn't sure if it was me

Or the pretty girl next to me.

So, I pretended I didn't hear it.

"Long time no see!"

You said it like you meant it.

Oh how I wanted to say

"I always see you down the hallway"

And "We're on the same class yesterday"

"Can I have your number?"

How I wish you wanted it 'cause you wanted it

Not because you needed it.

Oh well,

At least I'll get your number back.

"You look cute today"

You even patted my head

I'm not sure if you meant it because you meant it

Or you just said it

Because you have to say it.

"Wow! You're so smart!"

I swear my heart skipped a beat

My cheeks begun to heat

I couldn't stop smiling

I got a compliment for trying.

"I like you"

I wanted to say

"I like you too"

But foolish me

I said "Thank you"

The next days you didn't come to school.

I was worried if it's because of me being a fool.

I tried to call you

But you didn't answer

"Is this how my fairytale ended?"

Then you came and asked me "Why?"

I couldn't help it but I cried.

"I can't because I couldn't"

"Why?"

"Just because" call me crazy but I smiled.

"Then, farewell"

Farewell indeed.

I let go before we could even start.

Call me fool but I'm not scared of love

It's because we shouldn't and would never be.

I knew from the start it was the pretty girl next to me

Who owns your heart, and not me.
