It was almost the end of the week and Merida hadn't found anyone or should say hadn't bothered to find anyone, she knew already there was no point. But the whole past few days she couldn't stop thinking about what her father had said to her. Was she really ready to take responsibility? Was this actually her fate...is her freedom really going to end an a few days but she knew no matter what, there was no going back but she was still going to fight back until the very end, she vowed to this.

Merida walked through the village and kept thinking hard on what she should do...the only option she had is stand her ground and say no. She yelped in frustration and everyone turned around and looked at her confused. Merida only waved at them and put a smile. Every one cared for the young woman for she was always kind and caring to them, she was a great example and they all thought she was all a leader should be...but only if Merida could see that.

She then came to stand were a old woman sold fresh ingredients. "Good day my beautiful lass, how you been dear?"

Merida sighed, "not so good my parents are forcing me to marry, and if by the end of the week I don't find anyone of my choice, I'll be engaged to Dingwall..."

"Well that's unfortunate but sometimes we are lead to things we can't do anything about.." The old lady started to pack the ingredients that Merida always picks on Thursdays for her mother.

" I know that but I just don't believe in love....i...feel it doesn't...exist,....it's more that it wasn't...made..for...me but at the same time I feel that there's something out there for me to discover but..... That's impossible." Merida looked down at the ground, "and for that, I only desire freedom, and that's all I will always need."

The old woman looked at her with sympathy

"Oh child, but you aren't seeing clearly you are blinded by what YOU think you need or want because that's what your mind is convincing you to do but you aren't seeing what your heart truly wants and desires the most. You can't ignore one or another you got to get them to work together cause that will be bring you to your true fate that was meant for only you...."

Merida jerk her face up and looked at the woman, the old woman's words sorta got to her but she didn't know why, she felt that those words will soon help her in the future but she didn't know how.

Merida only nodded and said thank you and the old woman just nodded in response. Merida payed and left the old woman, the old woman kept looking at Merida as she left and she felt that something magical awaited for this young red headed woman; "good luck.."
================================
For the rest of the two days Merida and her parents never brought the subject up but it was still input, her parents were sadden by the decision but it had to be done.
Merida wouldn't really talk much with her parents, she was still annoyed but couldn't bring herself to hate them.

That Saturday evening during dinner her father gave an announcement regarding of the marriage proposal.
"Merida have you founded a suitor of your choice?"

Merida stayed quiet but soon spoke up," No dad I never did and never will...and by that you know my answer." She coldly said.

"I assumed you would have that answer, therefore I have already made plans to travel to Dingwall tomorrow morning to make preparations, your mother has already informed the neighboring town...we are truly sorry, I was against it at first but seeing your age now I think your ready and your mature to know your responsibility...that being said tomorrow I embark to tie this engagement...its for the best."
Fergus couldn't bring up to look straight at his daughter, it really hurt him to say that, he wished his daughter would be free to choice her path and who she would marry at her own time and find love. But the council suggested this for the good of the town, so it had be done, even if it broke his heart.

" what!? Please dad,no, you can't possibly do this!!" Merida cried out in desperation.

"Merida please stop acting like a child it's going to be done no matter what!!!" Eleanor raised her voice, she had enough of her daughter's childish acts.

"I WILL NOT GO THROUGH WITH THIS! YOU CAN NOT MAKE ME!!" Merida abruptly left to her room and locked herself.

She wasn't acting like a child, she just couldn't go through with this all of a sudden. She wanted time, it supposed to be taken with time...but... Even then time wouldn't work for her to fall in love with Dingwall, she just knew it wasn't him, he wasn't for her. She just wanted someone who could understand her and take her as she was....but no such person existed and no such love was out there....
