Bonus Ch. 1- The Kids

It's been 9 years since the reunion. Time flies by. I miss them all. Right now I'm helping my 17 year son, Ted, get ready for his karate tournament. Ted is a black belt in Karate and is taking from his dad a lot. On the other hand my 15 year old daughter, Zoey, she takes after me. She is a black belt in karate too but after she got it she said she wanted to quit and join the cheer team. Of course we said she could. But she has to still train and keep in shape with the family. My 11 year old daughter, Emily, takes karate but she likes music instead. She can play guitar and piano. Plus she can sing. I looked at the three with a look that can only be described as proud. Jack and I are co-owners of the dojo and Ky is the second in command. Yes he is still here. He found a girl in a shelter that he volunteers at. He took the now 16 year old girl in and adopted her. We are like one big happy family.
Zoey
I was in my room putting on makeup when I get a knock on the door.
" It's open." I shouted at the person. In walked my mother. She came up beside me.
" Hey Zoe." She said.
" Hi mom." I said.
" So I heard from a little birdy that you have a crush." She said. My eyes went wide. That little snitch. I knew my little sister couldn't keep her mouth shut.
" No. I don't." I started.
" Zoey. I know when your lying so just tell me who he is." My mother ordered.
" Fine. His name is Zack and he's totally hot." I squealed.
" My daughters first boyfriend! Yeah!" She said excited.
" Mom. Who was your first boyfriend?" I asked.
" Ky." She replied simply.
" What?! Uncle Ky?!" I screamed.
" Yep." She said.
" Wow. How did that happen?" I asked. Mom never really talks about her past so I was excited to hear.
" We use to be close friends. And one day we got caught sneaking out and Ky asked my dad if we could date for real." She said.
" Why haven't we ever met him?" I asked talking about her dad.
" Let's just say we got into a big fight and a lot happened. Well hurry up its almost school time." She said then walked out. Just like that. I finished getting ready and walked downstairs. Zoey was there, ready to go to middle school. Ted was all dressed up and with his girlfriend, a pretty red head named Lauren, about to head to his junior year of high school. Kelsie, Ky's new adopted daughter, was dressed and ready for her Softmore year of high school. Then there was me, headed to my freshman year of high school. Ted was gonna drive all of us except Zoey because dad's dropping her off. We said our goodbyes and headed to Ted's car. We got to school and said our goodbyes. I headed one way with Kelsie while Ted went the other with Lauren.
" Ok so are you gonna meet with Zack?" Kelsie asked.
" Duh. Can u believe my mom found out?" I said.
" No way. How did she take it?" She asked.
" Good. Luckily she only thinks it's a crush and not that I'm dating him." I said.
" Why are you hiding it from her?" She asked.
" She would freak. And it's not like she's not hiding stuff from me." I said.
" True. Well I'm headed to class. See you at the dojo." She said before walking away. I walked over to Zack.
" Hey babe." He said when he saw me. He is wearing his football jersey. He's captain of the football team and has brown hair. But you can't forget those amazing brown eyes. He wrapped me in a hug.
" Hey." I said.
" We skipping today?" He asked.
" Yeah. I don't want to spend another second here." I said. He put his arm over my shoulders as we walked out of the building we walked the square talking and laughing until we got to the library and I got to thinking.
" Hang on. Let's go in here for a second." I said.
" Really babe? I thought we skipped school to stay out of places like this?" He asked.
" Yeah. But it will just take a second." I said. We entered and I got on a computer. I looked up Kate Smith. Nothing. I couldn't find mom anywhere. I looked up uncle Ky. A hit to a girl named Kari. Weird this girl disappeared about the time mom appeared. I clicked on more websites. Uncle Milton taught me how to hack into websites to find hidden information. I pulled up a website. Kari was a teenager when there last was record of her. She had a mother who died and a father. I looking more into the father but before I could something stopped me.
" Uh Zoey." Zack tried to say.
" What?" I asked turning around. There was Uncle Ky.
" Hello newly grounded teens. I'm taking you home." He said. He dropped off Zack. On the way back He was the first to break the silence. "What do you think you were doing?" He asked.
" I'm sorry but I had questions that mom wouldn't answer." I explained.
" What could possibly be worth the trouble your in?" He asked.
" Why haven't I ever met mom's dad? Why can't I find mom on the internet. I found this girl named Kari when I searched you. Why is that?" I asked.
" Woah. Slow it. I understand your confusion. What did you find on your search?" He asked and if I didn't know better I'd say there was a hint of nervousness.
" Just that mom's name pulls up nothing and a girl named Kari disappeared around the same time mom appeared. So I tried looking up Kari's family but the only one I could find was her father." I said.
" Wait. What did you learn about Kari's father?" Ky asked.
" Nothing. You came before I could find out anything." I said.
" I can't tell you what you want to hear. But I think you should ask your mother." Ky said. We arrived at the dojo. Ky and I walked in with mom and dad right there.
" What were you thinking?!" My mom yelled. I guess Uncle Ky called and told them.
" Your in big trouble Zoey!" Dad yelled.
" I know but." I started.
" No! To your room! I'll be up after I talk to your uncle!" Mom screamed.
" Fine!" I yelled before running up the stairs crying.
Kate's POV
I pulled Ky over while Jack took care of the class.
" What happened?" I asked.
" I found her at the library with a guy named Zack. Their dating." He said.
" What? I thought it was just a crush?" I asked.
" There are bigger problems. She was searching the computer and found Kari. She was close to finding the Darkness." He explained.
" Great. Just what I needed. I got this in the mail today." I said. I showed him a letter. It was from a isolated prison.
Dear Daughter,
I am coming for what is mine. You can't hide. I will have that scroll. I heard that my grandchildren are growing fast. I also hear one of them has the power. I'll stop by soon for a little family reunion. Goodbye Kari.
Ky was speechless. But so was I. My father threatened my children.
" What was he talking about when he said one had the power? I thought you destroyed it?" I asked.
" I did. But when power posses you even when transferred some stays. I guess that when you had kids that power left in you multiplied greatly in one of the kids." He said.
" So my kids are endanger." I stated.
" If you don't tell them your past. Yes they could be." He said. I just shook my head.
" I can't."
Zoey's POV
I was laying on my bed talking with Kelsie.
" I bet they did something to that girl and her father and that's why Uncle Ky was acting so nervous." I stated my theory after telling her what I found out.
" I don't know. I don't see your mom and my dad as killers." She said.
" I don't know. But I'm going to find out." I said. I grabbed my jacket and headed to Ted's room.
" What are you doing here?" Ted asked. Ted and I are pretty close.
" I need a ride." I said.
" Where?" Ted asked.
" To the library. I've got to find more on mom's past." I said. Ted is curious about her past too but not as much as me.
" Just use my laptop." He said handing it to me. I sat on his bed. I searched Kari and her father. I found an old building near by that says was a dojo before. Ok I'll search there.
" Look at this. And it's not far." I said.
" Come on sis. We can't just leave like that." He said.
" Either that or mom finds out that instead of going to karate training you were making out with Lauren." I said.
" Grab your coat it's cold." He said. I smiled and we headed for the door. The building was worn down. Kinda creepy. I started looking around and found a book about a scroll. Weird. The cover had a rose on it. The source of power. The rose matched my neckless that Uncle Ky gave me. Ok this is getting creepier. I found a photo of mom and some old guy and a pretty older woman. What's this? Just then I heard a sound.
" Ted?" I called.
" Sorry he's a bit.... Out of it." The guy pointed to my brother on the ground. I ran to him. He sat up.
" Who are you?" I asked.
" Me? I'm your grandfather." He said.
" No way." Ted said.
" Mom never mentioned you." I said.
" I wouldn't doubt it. But she has something I want. Now you two will serve as bait." He said. He moved toward Ted.
" No!" I shouted. My hand shot up and some light shot out. Woah. The guy fell over a little.
" So you have it." He came toward me.
" Get away from her!" Mom shouted. Dad and Ky beside her.
" My daughter. How's life?" He asked.
" It was going great until you showed up." She replied.
" Now is that the way to speak to your father, Kari." He said.
" Kari? So your names not even Kate! This is what you were hiding?" I asked.
" Honey it's not what you think." She said.
" You lied to us! You lied to me! How could you?!" I asked tears falling.
" You didn't tell them? Wow. I'm offended." The guy said. Ky took Ted away from the guy but they couldn't get to me.
" Let her go father." Mom said.
" I don't think so." He said. Then mom and dad and Ky fought the guy.
" Your weak Darkness. You can't win." Ky said.
" Maybe not today. But I'll be back." He said. He pushed everyone back and vanished. Mom ran to me.
" What were you thinking?" She asked.
" I wanted answers." I said.
" I guess now you have to know. Jack gather the family. Its time you guys knew who I really am." Mom said. And I smiled.

Ok so probably a really bad chapter but I'm tired. Its 3 am but I wanted to post this. This doesn't mean there's going to be another book. But there is a slight chance. What do you guys think? Again sorry for the rushed chapter. Thanks for reading.
