Edwin’s POV
Friday after school…
Stephanie seemed to be avoiding me all day. Not sure why… Maybe I was just being paranoid. I mean, I just hadn’t seen her all day, except for first period that we shared together. She sat on the other side of the class, probably on purpose. Was there something wrong with me? Did I smell?-sniffs clothes- Nope…
After school, after I got home, I threw on a black V-neck shirt and some cache swimming trunks. Why not splash on some Hollister cologne. It’ll set the beach mood;) And I haven’t went surfing in forever why not take the board.
As I walked outside through the garage, the sun blazing through lightly brushing my tanned skin. I noticed a uniformed man with a LARGE truck talking with my dad. Our cars must be here.
“Hey son, the cars are here,” he yells. “Were you still taking the surfboard to that party?”
“Why not?,” I retort, smiling.
“You Might as well take the old pickup if you want.” He says in his stern, almost-old voice. The old pickup wasn’t bad, especially for going to places like a private beach. Once again, it just sets the “beachy” mood.
“What about the pretty young lady you keep blabbing about?” Great, time for embarrassment. I was glad Stephanie wasn’t here to see any of this.
“She said no…” I reply shoving my hands in my pockets.
“No worries, son. You’ve got the looks of your father and that never fails.”
I couldn’t help but smile. It was true I did get my looks from my dad. It was almost as if we were twins. He just had a few aging detailing over the past years.
The pickup didn’t even look all that old. It was a 70’s pickup that was bluish and, surprisingly, kept its color. My long red surf board would be perfect and I could show it off to any chick at the party that was interested. What the heck, I already know they would be.
For the remainder of the time ‘til I was going to leave, I waxed my board and made sure it was perfect. I got in the car and thought for a minute. I wasn’t in much of a rush; the party didn’t start ‘til around an hour. I pulled out my cell phone and decided to call the pretty little Angel.
“Hello, there.” She answers. She has the hugest smile on her face. I could already tell.
“Stephanie.”
“Edwin…”
“So, is Landon still taking-‘’
“Yeeess! Landon’s still taking me to the party.” She says giggling.
“Are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure, Edwin. The party starts in an hour. You didn’t want to help Landon set up?”
“Oh, sure. Why not? Tell him I’ll be there in about 20 minutes. The beach is quiet away from my house.”
“Yeah, sure I’ll tell him.”
“… So what color’s your bathing suit?”
“Edwin!” She says laughing.
“I just wanted to know so I could imagine-“
