For the last year or so, I've had the same dream. Me sitting at a desk, with a small lamp illuminating just enough to see what I'm writing. However the words on paper are somewhat blurry. I can make out a few words but never more than 5 or 6 at a time. The dream goes from looking at the notebook, as if reading it for a few moments (sometimes longer) then I stand up, and close the notebook, then start walking out of the room. Insignificant for many, but the last month or so I was actually able to read what was on paper. I finally got everything down, (I had to fill in a few blanks but grammar clues helped fill in a word or two) this is what was written:
I'm lying in my bed. Pillow covering my eyes from the morning sun, as I feel like someone is watching me. I cannot move nor speak, and I feel someone climb in the bed with me. The person feels small and short in stature, and relatively light-weight compared to myself. They lay their head on my chest for a few moments, and that's when I realize the music was no longer playing through my headphones, but it was silent. The person then giggled, and I recognized that giggle. I'd know it anywhere, it was her. She moved slowly, possibly trying to avoid stirring me. I felt her hover above my own face, as if she was studying it like it was the first time she had seen it; however this was a face she had seen many of times prior, so maybe she was looking for a sign of alertness... I slowly keep my rhythmic breathing, slowly my chest rises and falls. She moves slowly towards my face and kisses my slightly parted lips. She stares again for a moment and whispers to herself, or possibly just to think aloud. "He's so cute when he is sleeping, I wonder what's going through his head." Then she giggled again. She paused for a moment, my left hand twitched slightly, and fell motionless again. Then she adjusted herself and was lying her head on my chest; her breathing matching my own. I could feel my brain clouding, and I soon phased back into a deeper sleep.....
I awake with a jolt, my alarm playing some song I care not to remember. I scan the room, and it is as it was when I laid down: quiet and slightly sunny. I sigh and think to myself: was it real? Or was it a figment of my mind, caught in some fraction between sleep cycles?
I know it was short, but I hope you liked it. Maybe I should post more short story-ish things...
