Chapter Ten

    "Sorry for the inconvenience," says Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy sits at the counter with a worried expression on her face.
    "So there are only two rooms for two available?" asks Serena.
    "That is correct. We are doing some renovations to some of our rooms currently, but usually it isn't a problem since most trainers just pass through," replies Nurse Joy.
    "Hm... What are we going to do? Those rooms are too small..." says Serena.
    "Pikachu and I vote that Serena and Calem take one of the rooms together," says Shauna.
    "That's not going to happen! And who said Pikachu gets a vote!" yells Serena blushing. Tierno and Trevor just laugh.
    "It's fine," I say.
    "What?!" says Serena in shock.
    "Not that! I mean the rooms. You and Shauna can take one room, and Tierno and Trevor can take the other."
    "But then where are you going to sleep?" replies Trevor.
    "I'll figure something out. There's not always going to be a Pokémon Center nearby. I'll go camp out somewhere for the night if I have to," I say.
    "You can feel free to sleep here in the lobby if you want. I can bring you some pillows and blankets from the back," says Nurse Joy.
    "Thanks. I might take you up on that," I reply.
    "Wait, I still don't agree with this!" says Serena.
    "Doesn't it get cold out here at night? Will you be okay C-Meister?" asks Shauna.
    "We don't have any other choices, and if worst comes to worst, I have Fennekin to keep me warm," I say. Shauna and Serena aren't as assured. "Now come on, if you guys don't get your rooms quick, the boutique next door might close."
    "There's a boutique next door?!" gasps Shauna.
    "Yes! It's part of a chain throughout all of Kalos. Each one has different clothing to choose from," says Nurse Joy.
    "I saw the sign right before we came in," I assure her.
    "Serena! Hurry up and get the rooms!" yells Shauna. It didn't take much to take her mind off the situation. Serena continues to stare at me annoyed.
    "I don't want to let you do this, but fine. We'll take the rooms Nurse Joy," says Serena. Nurse Joy hands her two key cards, and Serena hands one of them to Trevor.
    "Nurse Chansey, would you be so kind as to show these trainers to their rooms?" says Nurse Joy as she throws a Pokéball into the air. With a flash of light, the pink egg Pokémon Chansey appears next to us. It's wearing a nurse hat just like Nurse Joy's. With a cheerful cry, the Chansey takes Serena's hand and starts dragging her forward.
    "Oh. Uh. Thank you? I guess we're going this way guys. You stay here Calem. We will be back in a second," says Serena. The rest of our group begins to follow Chansey and Serena.
    "Alright! I'll be here," I respond as they disappear into the hallway past my view.
    "You two make a very cute couple!" says Nurse Joy.
    "Oh. We're not a couple or anything. I just met her today," I say.
    "What? I would have never guessed that, what with the way you two look at each other." All I can do in response is blush. Am I staring at Serena that much? What if she starts to think I am a creep!
    "I can use that PC over there, right?" I ask.
    "Of course!"
    I walk over to the right corner of the lobby, where a few PC modules stand. The lobby also gives access to restrooms and the store. I get the PC running and open up the video call feature. I type in some digits and hit the call button.
    After a few seconds, I'm greeted with, "There's my boy! How are things? I didn't expect to be hearing from you so soon!" My mom giggles to herself, probably thinking that I can't live without her. I can see that she is sitting at the dining room table.
    "What am I supposed to do with this stupid basket!" I yell, holding the basket up. "I really don't want to be carrying this with me everywhere. My bag is heavy enough as it is."
    "Hm... We didn't really think that part through did we?"
    "It was your idea! But the food was really good though, thanks!"
    "You're welcome! And don't worry about it. Just leave it with Nurse Joy and I will come get it sooner or later."
    "Alright. Looks like I'll be sleeping in the Pokémon Center's lobby tonight," I say.
    "Well that sucks. The girls too?"
    "Nope. Just me. The girls have a room together."
    "Hey! Are you talking about us!" asks Shauna. I turn to see Shauna and Serena walking to me from the hallway.
    "Yeah! I was just telling my mom about how mean you are to me!" I reply.
    "I am not! Don't believe what C-Meister says!" says Shauna as she pushed her way into the camera's view.
    Serena laughs and adds on, "Hello Calem's Mom! I'm Serena. Thank you very much for the food!" Serena is on the opposite side of me so that we can all fit on the screen.
    "Oh yeah! I'm Shauna! Thank you sooo much! It was delicious!" says Shauna.
    "It was my pleasure. I've already heard great things about you two from Calem! I'm glad you guys liked it. I'm honestly quite surprised! I didn't expect Calem to be hanging out with such beautiful fine young women," replies Mom.
    "Mom!" I yell.
    The girls are flattered. Serena responds, "Thank you very much. You are quite beautiful yourself!"
    "Calem totally doesn't deserve us!" says Shauna.
    "I'm right here!" I say. The three girls laugh at me. I'm hopelessly outnumbered.
    "Hm... I wonder if one of you two will be my future daughter in law," says Mom.
    Our faces all go bright red.
    "What are you talking about at a time like this?!" I say.
    "Uh... I," stumbles Serena, not knowing how to respond. I wouldn't either.
    "Maybe... Probably?" says Shauna shyly. Not Shauna too!
    "Alright! Conversation over! Bye Mom!" I say as I go for the end call button.
    "Wait! I'm not done t..." is all my mom can say before the call ends.
    There are a few seconds of silence between us as we all zone out. "We're just going to act like we didn't hear that," I say. Serena and Shauna both shake their heads silently, and we walk out of the Pokémon Center.
    The three of us walk next door to the Santalune Boutique. According to Serena, Tierno and Trevor didn't care about going. As we enter, I can see mannequins lined up along the back of the shop. Each of them sporting a different outfit. Shauna and Serena immediately take off together. They pick out a bunch of different things they want to try on and notify me that I will be judging how their outfits look.
    For about an hour, Shauna and Serena come out in new outfits, and I give them my opinion. While they change, I look around the store for myself. Although they can both pull off just about anything in the store, I manage to get them to settle on just a few things they would want to wear often.
    One outfit Serena tries on has my jaw drop to the floor. Luckily she decides to get it, and I hope I can see her in it again! I buy a few things that the girls recommend for me as well, and we head back over to the Pokémon Center. It's dark out by the time we leave the boutique.
    "That was fun!" says Shauna.
    "I agree!" says Serena.
    "I don't know how you girls manage to carry so much clothes with you all the time!" I add.
    "It's a secret," says Serena.
    "Oh really," I reply, and we all laugh.
    "Well we're going to head in for the night. Make sure you get Nurse Joy to bring you sleeping stuff. I already told you where our rooms are, so come get us if anything happens. And..." says Serena.
    "I think he gets it Serena," says Shauna.
    "I'll be fine," I add. "Goodnight girls."
    "Goodnight C-Meister!" says Shauna.
    "Goodnight Calem! I mean C-Meister!" says Serena at the same time.
    "Real smooth," says Shauna with a laugh.
    The girls head off to their room. I call out Fennekin to entertain me for a little while. I feed her and give her some attention. Once it gets a little later, I return Fennekin and trade out my picnic basket for some blankets and a pillow.
    I get ready for bed, and once Nurse Joy knows that I'm situated, she shuts down the Center. Light from the windows is the only thing keeping me from pitch black darkness. The room doesn't unsettle me very much, but the couch I'm sleeping on is rock hard.
    An hour passes and the room continues to grow colder. I can't sleep. I can't stop thinking about how much has happened today. I seriously don't deserve friends like Shauna and Serena. They are amazingly fun to be around! Plus, I need to figure out what I'm going to do once I am on my own. Serena isn't going to always be holding my hand.
    "Calem?" I hear a faint voice say. It scares the  crap out me and I almost have a heart attack. Someone is holding a small light over by the hallway.
    "Yo. You scared the poop out of me," I reply, not even fully knowing who it was. It sounded like it was Serena though.
    "Oh, so you are still up. Good. Grab your stuff and come on," says the person that is definitely Serena.
    "What? Why?"
    "Just come on!" she says. I grab my stuff and walk over to her. Now that I'm close, I can see her from her Holo Caster's light. She's in red pajamas that matched the skirt she wore earlier today.
    "Hi," I say.
    "Hi. Let's go," she says with a chuckle. Serena guides us through the halls and to her room. She knocks lightly on the door three times.
    The door opens to reveal Shauna in pink pajamas. "Password?" she says.
    "Your guys' pjs are adorable," I whisper.
    "Ding ding ding. You can enter," says Shauna. Serena and I enter the room, and Shauna closes the door behind us. The room isn't too big, but it has a restroom, two twin beds, and a television, The television is currently playing an old Pokémon Contest. Shauna walk over to their respective beds and take a seat.
    "Nailed it," I say.
    "Serena couldn't sleep she was so worried about you, so she decided to bring you in here," says Shauna.
    "No! I... um, We were both up anyways, so I thought that if you were up, you should come in here!" says Serena.
    "Riiiiight," says Shauna. "So you can put your stuff between our beds."
    "Are you guys sure?" I ask.
    "Of course! We're not going to let you sleep out there when you can sleep in here," says Serena.
    "It's more like a sleepover this way!" says Shauna with a wink.
    "I see," I reach down and grab my pillow and throw it at Shauna on her bed. It hits her in the face and she plops over on her back.
    She removes the pillow from her face, "Oh no you didn't! Get him!"
    Suddenly, I'm hit with a pillow from behind me. I've been betrayed! Shauna jumps in and starts hitting me with my own pillow. I take her pillow and the fight ensues.
