Simon found it was terribly unfair how tall his boyfriend was.
He was pretty short, and he knew this since birth, but Lewis stood 6.5" and was the tallest guy in school. He towered over the upperclassmen and had to bend down to kiss little Simon. At least Simon had meat on his bones and a nice beard growing in. Lewis had a bit of stuble and was practically a walking toothpick.
Sometimes the tall man would tease Simon about the height difference and cracking jokes like, "how's the weather down there, friend?" Or, "Sorry, didn't see you down there!" (If only he didn't look so cute when he laughed at his own jokes.) If the joke did manage to hurt him, Lewis would immediately apologize with a kiss and a promise that he didn't mean anything by it. However, no matter how many cute kisses the giant nerd gave him, it didn't fix the fact that he was still shorter than him.
And talking about it, he found, was all the more difficult.
They were just relaxing in the library, Lewis helping him study for a chemistry test and making all kinds of nerdy puns. The day had already been pretty bad with Sips and Sjin throwing a paper ball at him in math, getting called to the office because Duncan mentioned him in a fight with the Hat boys, and losing Lewis in a crowd because he simply couldn't see over the wave of people. However, the library was the only time he Lewis got to spend now-a-days. He wouldn't miss seeing his nerd geek out about the robotics club and the newest space discovery for anything.
But the trouble finally came and ruined it all when the book he needed was on a different shelf. A high shelf. He tried his to reach it, but he simply couldn't. Not even with a stepping stool. Lewis came up behind him and grabbed it for him, a smile on his lips. Simon flustered and begrudgingly followed him back to the table. They continued to study, and eventually got on the topic of sports.
"The cross-country team asked me to join again." The skinny teen had sighed, blue eyes scanning his folder for the homework they needed to complete.
"Really?" Simon said, a little forced. It was because he was tall with long legs. Nothing else.
"Yes. I hate seeing their faces fall when I decline, but can you imagine me as a runner?" He snorted, pulling out a piece of paper. Simon looked away. I have to run just to keep up with you... He thought bitterly.
"Yeah. Can't see a nerd like you anywhere but the astronomy club."
Lewis let out a chuckle and began to circle something on the paper. He adjusted his red-rimmed glasses. "Honestly. I have no strength, zero stamina, and practically blind without these glasses." He said, tapping the rims to prove his point.
"Yeah. Wonder why they keep askin' ya." Simon said, not even looking up from his paper.
Lewis looked at him with concern on his face. "Um, are you alright?" He asked, his hand landing on Simon's shoulder.
"..." Simon didn't respond, worried he might lash out at him.
"We can stop if you want to...I don't mind." The disappointment in his voice was evident, but Simon couldn't stand being around him right now.
"Yeah. It's been a bad day. See you tomorrow." He said, cramming his stuff into his bag and walking away from the table, leaving a very confused Lewis and a mess of papers
"O-Ok. Love you!" He heard Lewis call, but Simon only gave him a thumbs up in return.
The next couple days were really hard. Simon had decided that Lewis was simply too good for him. He deserves someone better. Someone who could kiss him without a stool. Someone who made him look better. Whenever he saw Lewis, he have a short answer to his worried questions and proceeded to ignore him, despite how much he wanted to reach out and kiss the male. He had purposefully hid during lunch so the brunette was forced to sit somewhere else, and had ignored all of his texts.
