Fake Smiles

#8: Birthday Party

Lily was finally going home after being in hospital for a while week. She was sitting in the back of Mrs Dolan's car with Grayson. Ethan was sitting in the passenger seat at the front with his mom. Lily was holding Grayson's hand as they drove home. She was so happy to be with him. She was so lucky to have him in her life.

When they arrived home, Grayson helped her out the car and into the house. He sat her sat on the couch in the basement and he joined her. He put Napoleon Dynamite on the TV. They watched that movie and then they were called for dinner.

Everyone was talking about tomorrow, since Ethan and Grayson were turning 17. Lily was glad she was out the hospital to celebrate their birthday. Everyone was giving ideas on what they could do. Cameron suggested a birthday party and Mrs Dolan said a buffet with the family. The twins agreed to both.

After dinner, the twins washed the dishes. Lily was sitting at the table, waiting for them to finish. Grayson joined her at the table and took her hands in his. He smiled at her. She smiled back. Ethan decided he'd get ready for bed. It was only Grayson and Lily downstairs. They went upstairs, turning off all the lights and locking the doors, and got ready for bed. They both got into Grayson's bed and watched movies on his laptop.

Lily said she wanted to watch all their videos, so Grayson put their first video on. She was laughing at most parts of the video. Grayson was looking at her the whole time. She was stunning. She never failed to mesmerise him. He felt so lucky to have her, and call her his.

Ethan woke up to see no one on the floor. He looked at the time: 10:38am. He got out of bed and went into Grayson's room. He expected the bed to be empty, but he saw Grayson cuddling Lily. They were both asleep. Ethan ran and jumped on Grayson.

"Wake up! It's our birthday! Wake up!" He yelled at Grayson. Grayson moved around, trying to get Ethan off him.

"Stop!" He said tired. "Get off me!" Lily woke up and looked at Ethan. He laughed at their reaction.

"Wake up! It's our birthday!" He repeated. Lily sat up and looked at Grayson. He was trying to sleep, but Ethan kept jumping on him. "Wake up, baby bro! We're finally 17!" Ethan yelled down Grayson's ear.

Grayson pushed Ethan off him, causing Ethan to fall of the bed. Grayson sat up and wiped away the sleep in his eyes. "I'm up! Shut up!" He said, annoyed. Ethan laughed at him as he got off the floor.

"Come on, let's get breakfast!" Ethan walked out his room, leaving Grayson and Lily alone. They got out of bed and walked downstairs. Mrs Dolan was in the kitchen, making everyone breakfast. Ethan was sitting in the living room watching the TV.

"How is my baby birthday boy doing?" Mrs Dolan asked Grayson. His face turned red as he joined Ethan on the couch. Lily cuddled up to her new boyfriend.

"Besides Ethan jumping on me to wake me up" he started. "I'm fine. I was sleeping and then this idiot decided to jump on me!" Ethan started laughing.

Mrs Dolan walked into the room with three plates. "Ethan! Why did you wake up your brother like that?!" Ethan went silent. "Without filming it?!" Ethan looked at her in shock. Lily tried to suppress a laugh. Grayson glared at his mom.

The twins and Lily began to eat their breakfast, cooked by Mrs Dolan, while watching the TV.

It was time for the party. The rest of the Dolan family were in the house. Grayson had introduced Lily to the family and they all loved her. She was playing with the young ones while everyone else was celebrating Ethan and Grayson turning 17. Lily was laughing at the little kids.

Grayson was standing, watching Lily laughing and playing. He smiled at nothing, but how happy she looks. He felt a presence beside him. He turned to see Cameron. She smiled at him.

"She's really pretty" she said. "She's gorgeous! You deserve to be happy - you both do! After what you've been through, you deserve to have something good in your lives". Grayson smiled as he looked back at Lily. She was laughing. Her smile was beautiful.

Grayson was pulled out of his thoughts by Cameron. "I'm glad you found someone. Someone who can make you happy. She seems to make you happy". Grayson smiled at his sister.

"Yeah, I'm lucky to have her".

Lily walked towards him, her smile causing him to have butterflies in his stomach. "Hey, how's the birthday boy?" She asked. He blushed and smiled at her. He pulled her into a hug and kissed the top of her head.

"I'm super happy! This is the best birthday I've ever had!" Grayson replied. Lily hugged him as tight as possible. When they let go, they saw they were alone. They walked towards the food and filled their plates.

After the party had finished, and everyone went home, Lily and Grayson went into Grayson's room to finish watching their videos. They got ready for bed and played the videos. Eventually, they fell asleep.
