"Addy. Addy, ya gotta wake up, sweetheart." Soda said quietly.
"Hm?" I mumbled, curling up as I opened my eyes sleepily.
"The rest of the gang is coming over in a little bit and I don't want their hollerin' to wake ya." he said, buttoning up his DX shirt.
"Dammit, Soda, I don't care." I mumbled.
"You say that now, but when Dal-"
"Yeah, yeah, okay, I'm up." I replied quickly. Laughing, he tugged his shoes on and kissed my head, then took off running to get to work.

As the day went on and school and work let out, one by one the gang started arriving.
"Hey, Adalyn." Two greeted me as he went and grabbed a beer from the fridge.
"Hey, Two-Bit." i replied quietly. He came and sat on the floor in front of the tv. I hardly noticed Johnny sit on the couch beside me.
"Hey, Johnnycake." I greeted him, smiling.
"Hey, Addy." he replied quietly.
"What's up?" I asked.
"I'm real tired, to be honest with ya. I all but fell asleep in my English class today." he confessed. I laughed a little.
"Take a nap, then." I said.
"Here?" he asked incredulously.
"Hey, if I can-" I was interrupted by the piercing scream of terror coming from a child. Without thinking, I bolted out the front door, following the cries, only to find a soc cornering a girl who couldn't have been older than 9 or 10. I ran over and body slammed him, knocking him to the ground.
"Are you fucking insane?! She's a kid!" I yelled as he picked himself back up. He was taller than me by at least a foot, and most likely could knock me out with little effort. But it didn't matter. I was hot with rage, and the cries of the little girl as the gang catered to her only fueled my rage.
"I don't think it's any of your business, Greaser." he said snobbishly.
"Oh, isn't it? You think I'm just going to sit on my ass while you roam around my neighborhood attacking little girls? What were you gonna do, huh? Beat her up? Rape her? Take her lunch money? Does preying on the weak and innocent make you feel better about yourself? Does beating up the fragile give you some sick sense of pride? SHE'S A FUCKING KID!!!" I yelled, hooking him in the jaw, setting his mouth bleeding and resulting in a string of cuss words.
"You little bitch!" he yelled, tackling me. There was a frenzy of shouts as we wrestled on the ground, full-on fighting. I blacked out for a minute, and when I regained full consciousness, i was on top of him, and he was unconscious.
"And they say girls can't do damage in skin fights. Come on, princess." Dally chuckled, hauling me up. Soda was holding the little girl close to his chest. She was still crying. Though I knew I was a sight to see, I crouched by them anyway.
"Are you okay, baby?" I asked her. She looked up at me and I felt a pang in my heart. She was scared. Alone. Broken. The spitting image of me at her age. She pulled away from Soda and hugged me.
"You saved me." She whispered, her small arms squeezing my aching torso. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her tight. "My name is Kimmy." she said. I smiled.
"I'm Addy. What were you doing out here all by yourself?" I asked.
"I was walking home from the park." she said.
