Jason Walker - Kiss Me

You know, everything’s temporary in this world.” Y/N said looking down at her and Tate’s intertwined fingers.

He was humming, breathing slowly. His chest raising and falling in a steady tempo, while Y/N’s head was rested on his chest. They were currently lying on the couch, watching some crappy TV show that none of them paid attention. They were just enjoying each other’s company, even in pure silence. Just being close to each other, as close as to feel each other’s breathing, was enough.

After a while Tate responded with a sigh “I know.” And he did. Out of anyone else, he knew that everything in this world is temporary. “Everything comes and goes. People die. Just like that.” He continued; his gaze fixed on the wall opposite them.

“Just like that.” Y/N repeated with sad eyes.

“How come you said that?” Tate asked. Not really surprised by her sudden statement as he knew that Y/N had moments of epiphany questioning everything existing. She was deep and that’s what Tate found the most appealing on her.

From the moment she moved in with her parents in this house, he was drawn by her spirit. He was watching her for a while. Studying her every move. Even the tiniest details about her. The way she slightly bobbed her head when her favorite song was on; the way she was squinting her eyes when the first rays of sun crept through the curtain in the morning before she woke up. Learning things about her like what kind of music she was into, her favorite band, even what she was having for breakfast every morning before she went to school.

When he finally made his appearance as her father’s patient, he was nervous as to what she would think of him. Would she think he was crazy and not normal? God, he would die if she ever thought of him like that. And that’s why her reply to that caught him off guard.

He’d been looking down, fiddling with his fingers nervously when she replied. “Normal people scare me.” She’d said; a smile tugging on her lips.

That was when his shoulders relaxed and his breath that was holding was finally released through his body. “Me too.” He’d looked up grinning at her like a fool.

And that was the moment he knew that he was in love with this girl.

“I was thinking…” She trailed taking a deep breath. “… that I never want to lose you.” He was looking down at her caressing her cheek.

“You’ll never lose me.” He tried to reassure her but he knew, they both knew, that it wasn’t possible. He was dead after all, tied in this house. Y/N was alive, she was growing up and Tate couldn’t stop this.

“You know Tate, that’s not possible.” She climbed off his lap, now facing him, looking him dead in the eyes.

Tate ran a hand through his hair; a sigh of frustration escaping his lips.
