Chapter 21
Chaos happened at the high school once the students found out that Tony and I were engaged. Amber was the first to find out when Tony and I were talking in the hallway one day and she just happened to spot my engagement ring.
Once my and Tony's co-workers found out, they kept talking about it as well. Apparently, they all knew we would end up getting married after we used to argue almost twenty-four seven.
I never told my family yet, I ran into Ian while getting the mail today and he spotted my engagement ring. He was happy for me, sincerely happy, and he apologized another time for what happened. At least he was making the effort.
Since he knew, it wasn't going to be long until Lydia found out, then the rest of my family.
"So," Tony said, sitting down beside me on the couch and handing me a coffee mug. "What month do you want to get married in?"
"Would it be cheesy to say any month since I'm marrying you?" I asked, giving him a smile.
"Yes, it would," he said. "What about June? That gives us five months, and we won't be teaching then."
I smiled at him. "Sounds perfect." I pressed my lips on his, gently kissing him. He smiled against my lips, kissing me back.
However, we pulled away when there was a knock on the door. I sighed, getting up from the couch. "I'll get it," I said, setting the mug on the coffee table before walking to the front door.
And of course, it was Lydia. I guess she found out what apartment I was living in.
"You're getting married?!" was the first thing she said. "And you didn't even tell me, nor anyone else in your family?!"
"It told Grandma," I said.
Lydia snorted. "Yet you don't tell your own sister."
"What sister?" I asked. "The one who hooked up with my then-boyfriend, or my sister that new about it and acted like it was my fault?"
"So you were never going to tell us?" Lydia asked.
"Exactly," I said. "Why should I tell my family about me getting married when they didn't even tell me about you and Ian? It's a two way street, Lydia. You can't do one thing, then expect the opposite."
"You know what? Fine," Lydia said. "I'm guessing we're not going to be allowed to come to the wedding, right?"
"Ian is allowed to come," I said. "You know why? Because he apologized for what he did."
"Whatever," Lydia said. "I bet you won't be able to have any bridesmaids."
"Yeah, that's what you think," I said.
Tony was suddenly standing behind me and probably to show off, he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my forehead. "She actually has someone she wants as the maid of honor," Tony said.
"And I doubt whoever it is will want to," Lydia said.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure my sister would love to be the maid of honor," Tony said. "Unlike you, she is one of the sweetest girls ever."
"Charlie, you can't be serious about marrying that man," Lydia said.
"I am," I said. "If you tried to apologize, then maybe you would actually know what's going on in my life and how serious we are."
"And maybe if you apologized, I would have told you that you're going to be an aunt," Lydia said, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You're pregnant?" I asked.
"Yeah, I am," Lydia said. "I would have told you, but none of this would have happened if it weren't for you."
"Are you serious?" Tony asked. "Charlie did nothing. Your family is the one holding onto the past and if she can forgive Ian, then she probably forgive you if you ever decided to apologize. But you probably won't, so Charlie will be the bigger person. Come to the wedding if you want."
"Tony!" I said. "I don't want her coming!"
"Good, because I don't want to be there," Lydia said before walking away.
I scowled and closed the door. "Tony, I don't want her, or my parents or Matilda, coming to the wedding."
"Just let them if they want to," Tony said. "They'll see that you're moving on and hopefully, they finally will."
"Tony, it's been over one and a half years since it happened," I said. "Even when I try, they don't see it as me moving on. They're never going to move on from what happened. I just....I don't want them at my wedding."
"Not even your parents?" Tony asked. "Who's going to walk you down the aisle?"
I sighed. "I didn't even think about that. I could walk alone. I don't need my dad doing it."
"That's true," Tony said. "We won't invite them if you don't want them to come, but I think you should at least give them the chance."
"I'll think about it," I said honestly. "We've got five months anyway. So, when are we going to tell your family?"
"They're coming over for my birthday tomorrow," Tony said. "We'll tell them then. And trust me, Poppy would love to be your maid of honor."
I smiled. "I thought so," I said. It wasn't long after Tony proposed to me that I thought about asking Poppy to be the maid of honor. I liked her far more than I liked my siblings, and considering how much she shipped Tarlie, she would love to be the maid of honor.
I seriously couldn't wait to marry Tony. We were still going to act the same, but I was going to love referring to him as my husband. Five more months. Just five months and we were going to be spending the rest of our lives together.
______________
Aww, Tarlie. cx Sorry for the long wait. I blame Ginny and Nick. They're taking all my focus. cx
I don't even know if this book will even make it to chapter 30 because I'm running out of ideas. cx I just might end it at chapter 25, but have an epilogue as well.
And I'll probably wait a bit before starting Dedrick's book because seven books is a bit too much right now. IT'S NOT MY FAULT I COULDN'T WAIT TO WRITE RYDER'S SECOND BOOK. IT'S THEIR FAULT:
OMG, THAT'S MY NEW FAVORITE PICTURE OF THEM SO FAR. <3
