“Cathy,” I was walking towards my first class with by best friend Seth when I heard my name being called. I turned to see my friend Claire walking towards us.
“Hey Claire. What’s up?”
“Oh hey Seth,” she turned to Seth and he gave her a nod. “The girls and I are going shopping later, you wanna come?” she said to me.
“Sorry but I can’t tonight”
“Oh, that’s fine. Catch you two at lunch.
Seth and I continued walking towards our next class. Good thing I have most of my classes with him. We entered English classroom and sat by the middle of the back row.
“So, how’s the relationship with Matt,” Seth asked, I can hint some kind of annoyance in it.
“It’s okay. We’re trying to work out the long distance relationship thing.”
“Mmm, great,” sensed the sarcasm right there.
You see Seth and Matt had a rivalry ever since the freshman year. Basically in sports since they are both working hard in being the ‘soon to be team captain of basketball team’ for senior year. And they are sometimes fighting about the girls since they are both heartthrobs in our school, talk about in the Top 5 hottest dudes here. So when Matt asked me out, Seth went ballistic. He punched Matt and got mad at me for almost a week, and let me tell you, Seth being mad at me is like hell. Then he never sat with me and our friends during lunch whenever Matt is with us.
When Matt’s dad got transferred to Minnesota and they have to move, Seth threw his going away party. We then decided to try long distance relationship, and of course Seth didn’t like it in one bit.
Classes swing by fast since teachers don’t do much on the first week of school. Lunch time spring by and we sat by out usual table with our friends Anna, Erin. Jarred(Erin’s boyfriend) and Claire.
“I can’t wait to go shopping later, I saw this cute little dress the other day and I heard it is now on sale,” Erin started.
“You mean that red sequined dress we saw by Marnie’s,” – Anna.
“That’s the one”
“Are you sure you can’t come with us Cathy?” Claire said.
“Sorry, Matt and I are Skyping tonight. Today’s he’s first day of school so you know,” I said sending them apologetic smiles. I heard Seth grunt beside me.
“Oh, how’s Matt doing,” Jarred asked. Matt and him are great friends. After Matt asked me out, not long after he asked Erin out.
“We’ll he’s good. He said he’s trying out for the basketball team in his new school.”
“I’ll be shocked if he didn’t,” Erin said.
We continued chatting about school and summer but Seth remained quiet. Lunch ended and Seth walked me to my next class.
“Soo,” I said breaking the silence. “How was your summer,” he just shugged.
“Seth, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I’m just not in a mood today.”
“Come on Seth. You know I’m better than that.”
“I just don’t wanna talk about it okay?” and I just nodded at him not pushing the subject then I felt my phone vibrated.
From: Matty
Sorry Babe. I can’t Skype tonight. Talk to you some other time, kay?” ;)
I signed and then Seth checked my phone then said, “Goodluck with that long distance relationship.”
