He drove me crazy for three months on end. Everyday after school it was either band practice, I was helping him learn how to play, or he was teaching my how to use my abilities without my nose bleeding. By a month I was loosing my mind and by the third i was about to kill him.
"Why do i need to teach you how to play the simplest notes?" I asked him on one of our practice days. I was teaching him how to play a basic scale and he couldn't get it. We were still on quarter notes when our teacher knocked on the pratice room door then opened it.
"Bellamy your mother called, she says she'll be late picking you up." I said thank you to her and looked at Kaine when she closed the door.
"Why didn't she just call you?" He asked.
"My phone broke a few days ago and i haven't gotten a new one" I answered and looked at my saxophone pressing random buttons down. "Let's continue" i said and looked back up at him.
We started playing the scale again and he started to get better. We were able to get the sixteenth notes by the time his mom came and picked him up.
"Do you need a ride home?" Mrs.Fairchild asked. She, like her son, has brown hair with specks of blonde at the tips.
"Um..... Ya my mom won't be able to pick me up for a few more hours. I'll call her on the way i guess" Mrs. Fairchild smiled as we packed up our instruments and put them away. I grabbed my bag but Kaine quickly pulled it off my back and put it on his along with his own.
"What are you doing?" I asked him thinking he was crazy
"Being a gentleman" i chuckled and he looked at my seriously which made me laugh more.
We followed his mom outside and towards their car. A navy blue Toyoda car with a bumber sticker that says 'Proud parents of a Yale graduate' beside the license plate.
"Who's the graduate?" I asked Kaine, who was struggling to carry to bags and a saxophone.
"My sister Crystal, she's the academic one in the family" he answered and put his saxphone in the trunk and passed me my backpack. He slung his into the back and slammed the trunk closed. We walked around to the front and we got into the back seat. Mrs. Fairchild got into the front and started the car. I watched the world go by and was lost in it until Kaine's mom started to talk.
"If it's ok with you parents, you can stay for dinner tonight, i'm making my famous mac n' cheese" she bousted and Kaine nodded.
"It's like it doesn't even come from a box" he joked and his mom just smiled.
"I'll have to ask but it's fine with me, my parents are always working and it would be nice if they had some time alone" I responded and Kaine smiled.
"It's settled then" he stated and i held back a laugh.
We arrived at the Fairchild house 10 minutes later and before I got out Kaine stopped me. His mom had already gotten out.
"I have to warn you Belle..... My brother is home and he's a bit..... Psychotic"
"Psychotic?" I asked and kinda laughed.
"He likes to make.... Advancements on girls that i bring home, not that i bring a lot i'm just saying....."
"I'll be careful, don't worry" i opened the car door and got out. I looked back at Kaine who was still sitting there staring at me. I mouthed to him I promise, but i guess he was still worried. How bad could his brother really be?
We got into his house and i set my bag down. Before getting too far into his house, two teenagers ran downstairs and into the kitchen. One of them I recognized and the other, a tall, older version of Kaine, was the one I was unsure of.
"Ashet used my shampoo again!" The girl shreeched and the boy chuckled. The girls name escaped me but when she looked at me with those eyes I remembered.
Flash Back
Grade 8 french class
Me sitting the back row, barely listening to the teacher. The girl in front of me, blonde hair with bright red tips gossiping about boys and her brothers girlfriend. I listened slightly while a wrote notes. The teacher called on the girl; Emily, a name a barely heard but common enough. I stared in front of me as she answered. The teacher told her and her group to stop talking and I snorted, holding back a laugh. Her head turned around and those eyes shot into me like arrows.Flash Back Over
Gossiping Emily was Kaine's sister? Not even that but twin sister?
The memory played in my head like a re-run of my favourite tv show that had gone off the air. I stared at her as she opened her mouth into a smirk like smile.
"Bella, right" she asked and I shook my head.
"Bellamy" i retorted. The boy chuckled under his breath and Emily shot him a nasty glare and he stopped.
"This girl is no threat to you Emy" the boy assured her and jumped off the bar stool he was comfortably sitting on. He came to me and took my hand and kisses it as a proper gentleman would.
"Asher Fairchild, it's lovely to meet you Bellamy" so this was the brother Kaine was talking about. I looked back at Emily who was talking to their mom about something.
"Kaine, i should really phone my parents" i said and Asher stepped away from me. Kaine passes me their house phone and I dialed my mom's cell.
I waited for the beep when she didn't answer. I left a message and passed Kaine the phone.
"Dinner won't be ready for another hour or so. What do you want to do?" Kaine asked and out of the corner of my eye I could see a blue bubble floating in mid air.
"I see i'm in safe territory" i state pointing to the bubble. Kaine nods.
"Surprise?" Asher eclaims.
